After the TWAB it is clear that bungie have no intention to make rockets and fusions remotely viable in PvE content. We barely saw any pve buffs at all which is disappointing but to see these weapons be buried is heart breaking after rockets having such a good legacy in d1. GLs have become such a MAJOR counter to rockets and it’s clear that without an mag increase or new perks to support them, they will stay unused for the rest of the game. Fusions on the other hand have only ever had one good variant in the loaded question but now it’s sunsetting the there is literally no reason to own the weapon type outside of pvp. They do nothing to bosses compared to snipers and shotguns, their ad control is useless with the viability of energy primaries and the power of GLs and they have no good perks to back them up.
So I guess we have to wait 3 more months considering mid season sandbox changes RARELY happen. PLEASE HELP THESE GUNS. See you then.
Edit: I KNOW about the rockets in the twab. The problem is they will still be useless for ANOTHER season. You need to understand that too many things go untouched for SO long and it’s frustrating to see so many patch notes that ignore heavily underused things. This also asks why we have to wait so long for a change.
-
? I got highest dps in a dungeon with anarchy and a vorpal hollow words. What do y'all mean fusions are not viable?
-
I love how completely forgotten and dead machine guns are.
-
I don’t understand why people keep saying Fusions Suck In PvE.
-
All I want is another good fusion like the one from wrath of the machine, I’ll never take it off
-
Have you heard of my friend.... TELESTO?? or LOADED QUESTION??
-
I've never been a fan of Bungie's "Seasons of Dominance" ideology to sandbox management. Because it results in weapons that windup **broken** they are so overpowered...and then only wind up getting nerfed. But it also leads to NEGLECTED weapons----like Rocket Launchers and Fusion Rifles----that are neglected, and underpowered to the point of being useless. I'm sorry, Rockets have been so bad for so long in PVE, that to just add one or two rockets to the RESERVES of the weapons is just insulting. If you're not going to do anything to make them more effective, just have the integrity to NOT DO ANYTHING. Instead of doing something like that and insulting the player base's intelligence.
-
You have a choice on what to use . If you chose use rockets that is your fault
-
Scout as well, they are dead, but the problem with PVE weapons is not the arch type, its the stupid champion mechanic thats killing weapons. If you wanna see more weapons in pve bungie NEEDS to do one of the following 1) Remove champion mechanic all together, its a dumb mechanic that only makes for a checklist you have to complete 2) -give all primaries the ability to get anti champion mods -seasonal rotate out special weapons getting specific anti champion mods Personally i would like option 1 because champions are not a good game mechanic, they only make encounters annoying not more engaging or difficult on top of that lit limits the weapons you can use. Like for example, i love hand canons, I always want to use them becuase i find them super fun. This season? Im kinda SOL as with every season. Because if you look back, its pretty much always been, SMG anti barrier and its getting really old having to tout around double primaries in pve all the blood time just to have anti champion mods.
-
So nerf fusion rifles?
-
I feel like fusions are okay. rockets are crap though
-
*laughs in 1k voices*
-
With loaded question getting sunsetted they will be.
-
I’m rocking a roar of the bear with autoloading and I’m wrecking it.
-
One thousand voices is always a solid pick. Only limited by its ammo reserves. Loaded question rip due to sun setting. Going forward having a rocket launcher with auto loading holster/cluster or tracking is not terrible. Sure, not a DPS monster, but solid in add clear and major damage, or pesky long range snipers. Of course armament mods made a difference and those are going away.

I used telesto, wendigo, and, get this, patron of lost causes (yes, the scout rifle) to solo flawless prophecy. Great for survivability and add clear, awful for boss DPS. The first encounter took 4 phases, and the last encounter took 8 PHASES. However, I feel that that's a fine trade-off. You get a gun that's super easy to use, and very good for killing minors and majors, you lose good boss DPS. Telesto and jotunn are balanced in my opinion (perhaps telesto is even a little over the top with its catalyst), but the legendaries just don't have the damage, ease of use, and range that those two exotics have. I think fusions should be good all around weapons, but a skilled sniper or grenade launcher player should far surpass them in DPS. That doesn't really work with how severe damage fall off is and how little damage they do. I don't think a big damage buff would cause any problems (right now there's a big gap in damage between the precision and high impact frames), but I don't know how they could handle range without ruining crucible. I don't see them returning fusions to projectile based weapons with travel time, and I don't see them removing firmly planted as the band aid solution to a fusion's inconsistencies in crucible.
-
Tell that to erntiel users and uh rockets are still used alot
-
Fusions aren’t too bad if you’re using one with good perks. It’s not necessarily a super serious loadout, but I’ve had some decent success with rockets too. Though that’s basically just because of Argent Ordnance. Having a couple extra rockets is better than no buff at all I guess, though.
-
Fusions are actually pretty good
-
Still using my Bad Omens from the day it first dropped, and I've never had a DPS beast like it since. Champions, NF bosses, Nightmares, raid bosses, say goodbye. Just mazterworked a Hollow Words with FF and Vorpal, it's easily one of my best anti champion weapons. Can't relate but I see your point.
-
I was really disappointed that light weight pulses didnt get a buff too.
-
I used a Bad Omens off and on for a lot of the season. It wasn't bad, but I think cluster bombs are nowhere near what they were when the Curtain Call was good back in the beginning.
-
I luv my loaded question;)
-
Loaded Question is fantastic in PVE, but it's getting sunset.
-
The exotics for each can still be good, but yeah, there aren’t really any legendary options.
-
Telesto is still my favourite exotic.

The only fusion rifle/tracking rocket launcher you'll ever need is Jotünn. It hits like Xenophage, reloads like a 120 hc, and shoots a tracking missile an a snail's pace. It's perfect.
