(a few days late on this as the forums were down on the same day and shared it somewhere else so this is a late one along with the Day 21 i just recently shared. enjoy.)
Day 20: A Fallen Comrade
As Parth remembers when it comes to death, he is always familiar with death. Everyone dies, even Guardians when their Ghosts dies. Even Cayde-6 died which it'd hurt the Hunter faction two years ago. Plenty of times when the Vanguard tries their hardest to keep the order in peace when it was mainly Zavala and Ikora Ray running the Vanguard. Everyone still waits for who the third would be. Thinking either Uldren Sov or Shiro-4 or even Ana Bray to be the new Hunter Vanguard. As Parth always does whenever he hears about death of Guardians, he would shrug it off and just head to the local bar near the Tower to drink for the fallen.
This wasn't always the case, there is one guy he would remember back in the day. It was always the time when he hears another Guardian lost his Ghost and dies to think about the one guy he would hang.
The man back then was an Exo named Mercurius-7. A Titan who is among the Titan who respect all Guardians, even Hunters when most Titans despise them - mostly the ones in PvP, thankfully Parth don't use Stompees in the Crucible and mostly boots on ground. Even drinking buddies when they would bring in their old Clan to Raid or Crucible and even help out some people who are New Lights. Like a band of brothers they would call each other including the Clan they were in.
However, it didn't last too long when the Red War came in, after some incidents when lie was going wrong and Parth can only rely on his Clan and even Mercurius. The Last City was in rubble, a lot of Guardians were gone after the Light of the Traveler was sealed by Ghaul and his Red Legion, and many of the remaining humans were being dragged out or being mauled down by Gladiator cleavers. All Parth can think of was finding most of the Clan that he was in was destroyed. The home they kept was destroyed. He can only find the bodies of the Guardians and even some non-Guardians within it dead where they lie.
But suddenly, he found Mercurius-7, bleeding from his chest and his body broken. Parth checked that he was barely alive and asked Dusk if he would heal him but sadly... the Exo wouldn't make it.
Parth noticed that Mercurius laid a hand on his shoulder, having one eye open asking why Parth was here and should be escaping out of the City. All Parth wanted to be sure was to see any of his brothers in arms were alive.
However, Mercurius said these words to Parth, "You're the only one alive and should live for them. Live a great life, settle down and make it the best to protect the people. Whether with the Light or with it in the shadows. Live, Ash Parth. Live." And then Mercurius-7 had shut down. Dying in Parth's hands. Died along with the brothers and sisters within the Clan they formed and lost because of this nasty Red War.
That is even why everyday, Ash Parth will drink in not only the Guardians who fell today in their honor... it is also a tribute of the brothers in arms he made along with the friend that he had, the only best friend he called, Mercurius-7, the Protector.
Why Parth goes alone and claims himself to be a Shadow. A Harbinger. A Forerunner. Ash Parth, the Wayfarer.
