TLDR: Thunderdome/Doom Eternal Slayer Gates
Throughout the franchise, raid and dungeon encounters have tested you and your fireteam's abilities and they have a very specific focus to them that you need to overcome in order to succeed. For example, most destiny encounters more often than not require team coordination and/or encounter-specific mechanics whether it be stepping on plates, do this do that, you get the picture. Never before has a destiny encounter tested your team's might and that was the sole focus of the encounter, where succeeding in the encounter was dictated upon your core fps skills like loadout, reaction speed etc. Essentially, I want an encounter that tests just how much of a killing machine your guardian is, where your fireteam is packed in a small, close-quarters arena and the objective is to survive. We're not talking about a small number of enemies either. Oh no. I want this arena to be absolutely swamped to the gills with enemies, where even if you run things like riskrunner, trinity ghoul, etc success is still not guaranteed, because there are THAT many enemies. We don't want weak thralls either. We want at least 3 or 4 minibosses to spawn all at one time every once in a while too. Take something like the first encounter of tier 2 reckoning, crank it up to 11, and shove us in a smaller space.

This just sounds like a more hardcore version of the several horde modes we've already had. Destiny needs to innovate, not regress.
