Sooooooo Beyond Light is launching a couple days before the huge release of the PlayStation 5. Beyond Light also happens to release as the same times as the Xbox Series X. I have several tech-oriented questions for our developers as well as our community. Where on Earth do I start? September is nearly over, and time is running out. There are now less than 7 TWABS left and I feel as if that isn't enough time to explain how Destiny 2 Beyond Light will work on next gen.
For our Bungie developers, I ask:
1. Will Destiny 2 Beyond Light ACTUALLY RUN in 60FPS 4K HDR on PS5/Xbox Series X at LAUNCH?
2. Will Destiny 2 Beyond Light have a FOV (field of view) adjustment tab for next gen consoles? If so, will the adjustments be noticeable?
3. Will Destiny 2 Beyond Light have an option to INCREASE frame rate at the expense of
RESOLUTION? (ex. running 120FPS at 1440p instead of 60FPS at 2160p)
4. Will I have to REPURCHASE Destiny 2 Beyond Light for PS5 if I buy it on PS4? If so, how much will it cost-- or will there be an upgrade fee? (ex. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will have a 10 dollar upgrade plan for next gen console owners via. Best Buy)
5. Will Destiny 2 Beyond Light have SEPERATE SERVERS from PS4 players. In other terms, will there be cross play for PS4/PS5 users? If not, then one could assume there will be a TINY population for each next gen platform, resulting in a lot of issues. (ex. match making will take a LONG time). If so, will I need to enable CROSS SAVE on PS5?
6. Will Destiny 2 Beyond Light be BACKWARDS COMPATIBLE on PS5 if I choose to play with my PS4 players? (in relation to questions 1, 2, 3, and 5)
For the Destiny 2 community, I ask:
1. Did you pre-order a PS5/Xbox Series X? If so, will Destiny 2 Beyond Light be your launch title?
2. What will you do about your clan? If Destiny 2 Beyond Light IS NOT cross-play between PS4/PS5, will you join a new clan?
3. If Destiny 2 Beyond Light IS backwards compatible for PS5, will you stay behind to play with your friends, or grind without them?
4. In PvP, would it make you angry if you were constantly being killed by a PS5 user while on PS4 due to hardware advantage? (assuming cross-play is a thing between PS4/PS5)
5. Are you confident in Bungie's ability to release Destiny 2 Beyond Light successfully on next gen? Do you think there will be hours and hours of server issues (remember the Rise of Tapir lol)?
Thank you all for taking the time to read this. I am sure I can't be the only one wondering how everything is gonna do down this November, and I am very grateful that Bungie decided to delay Beyond Light because of all the major changes they are doing. I deeply thank all of our developers and community for coming together during these awful times.

Bc it's gonna suck just as bad as it does on PS4, Xbox and all platforms

I just asked some of these questions earlier, thanks for presenting them, because it seems like no one has any answers.
There are now less than 7 TWABS left and I feel as if that isn't enough time to explain how Destiny 2 Beyond Light will work on next gen.
How is that not enough time? It would take like five minutes to explain it in detail.

Cause that is like talking about the guy/girl that won the silver in the Olympics. Nobody cares.
-
my main concern is whether we are getting an fov slider. there will be other resolutions considering not everyone has a 4k TV, so I'm sure there will be a 1080 higher frame setting. pre-ordered my ps5 with best buy.
-
Destiny 2's HDR is literally the worst of any PS4 game, so I wouldn't hold out hope theyre dedicating much time to how it runs on PS5.
-
1. New consoles will run 4K 60FPS 2 and 3. Dunno 4. If you bought DLC on an older console, you get it for the new ones. 5. There is cross-play between consoles from the same company (PS4 and PS5)
-
So nerf fusion rifles?

Edited by RichGhost77: 9/25/2020 4:55:35 PMCos only 17 ppl managed to get a PS5.
yes I'm extremely salty cos I didn't manage to preorder one 😢
If you watch the reveal stream for beyond light that came out back in June you would have the answers to all bar questions 2 and 3.
-
I can almost guarantee that it won't run 4k 60fps on console.
-
Bump. Bungie question #1 is what we're all wondering. Need a little clarification please..

You don't being here midnight

Heres my response from a destiny addict 1. Did you pre-order a PS5/Xbox Series X? If so, will Destiny 2 Beyond Light be your launch title? Nope, no desire to play console because that demons' souls remake is definitely coming out on steam soon 2. What will you do about your clan? If Destiny 2 Beyond Light IS NOT cross-play between PS4/PS5, will you join a new clan? If I did buy a console for beyond light, I probably would. If any of my current clanmates did the same I would invite them. 3. If Destiny 2 Beyond Light IS backward compatible for PS5, will you stay behind to play with your friends, or grind without them? I'd ditch them for the schloot 4. In PvP, would it make you angry if you were constantly being killed by a PS5 user while on PS4 due to hardware advantage? (assuming cross-play is a thing between PS4/PS5) Absolutely. I feel like hardware should not make a difference when it comes to games in general, and they did say that ps4 and ps5 would have crossplay (unless I'm high and not remembering things right.) 5. Are you confident in Bungie's ability to release Destiny 2 Beyond Light successfully on next gen? Do you think there will be hours and hours of server issues (remember the Rise of Tapir lol)? I feel like after RoT and Shadowkeep they DEFINATELY learned their lesson. Also preloading is a good thing

I just hope they fix the blasted hdr black crush issue. Gonna be really irritated if this is an issue on a new console.
-
I have an xbox series x preordered and no I will not be buying beyond light. I'm over the fake grind, the repackaged old stuff..all of it. I barely even play destiny now anyway
-
I managed to land preorders for both the series x and the ps5. No I didn’t use a bot just dedicated way too much time to getting them. Anyways, I will be playing beyond light as soon as my series x gets here. I wonder if party chat will work for cross gen play?
-
I managed to sort out a PS5 from Amazon UK this morning. Destiny 2 will remain on the PS4 pro.

Edited by N3r0: 9/25/2020 1:30:38 AMThey answered some of this in the Beyond Light reveal video. The game will run at 4k 60fps If you buy the PS4 version of Beyond Light it's a free upgrade to the PS5 version. Same for xbox one to series x/s They are doing intergenerational play. So PS5 can play with PS5 & PS5 / Series can play with Series and One X

Someone get this post a dmg

Edited by Golden_Apple: 9/26/2020 6:32:59 AMI managed to preorder both consoles, but I feel like it'll play better on the Series X in terms of frame rate and graphical fidelity. It might be time for me to hop back into Destiny. Not really sure if it's too late for me to grind right now, but I have mixed feelings about the expansion after the burnout. This will be my first time back on the Xbox ecosystem in 12 years (I honestly only got it for Halo, Fable 4, and the Bethesda acquisition) (And All-Access). But for anyone that can answer these: 1. Is Beyond Light really coming to Game Pass Day one? 2. From my understanding with Cross save enabled, you can bring your guardians across different platforms? Like, if I'm playing D2 on my PS5, I can use my same toons on Series X/PC? 3. (Refer to #1) If Beyond Light is free on Game Pass, does that include the Season Pass and preorder bonuses or do I have to buy those separate? Thanks in advance.

Edited by Tru-Zrue: 9/26/2020 11:12:29 AM#4 and 5 were already answered. For the question for us players? I didn’t preorder it, didn’t pre order a ps5, am not hyped for the dlc because I’m scared of getting -blam!-ed again...no lube. Yes I want fov slider, I already know the game will run a 60fps, cross play would be a nightmare.
-
A bunch of my clanmates got the bug for preorder. I took a look online & it seemed chaotic so I’m in no rush. Heck I waited a whole year to take up D1 & glad I did (heard people’s Ghallys were left behind, along with that sniper from VoG - heartbreaking). I’ll probably get a PS5 at some point but I think a new TV would serve me better - Destiny is so dark at times.
-
Xbox sx is more power full. Thats why
-
I’m going to get the new Xbox that’s coming out. The one thing I can’t wait to play is this game since it has faster load times. That means I hope I won’t be flying to a destination for five minutes
