(Edit: I realize my mistake about how coldheart works. Gonna take this idea and make it a totally separate idea/new trace rifle)
(A quick TLDR below)
Going back to a really old exotic for this one: Coldheart. I remember the day way back when when coldheart was first released. It was a useful and fun exotic. The first of its kind, a trace rifle. Over time, many more trace rifles have come out, putting coldheart down at the bottom of the list. Each trace rifle appears to have its own “thing”. While you could say it slows down enemies, it doesn’t really feel like it’s enough compared to ruinous effigy which turns enemies into usable orbs or Prometheus lense with its expanding AOE. With beyond light coming out and the real icy/frozen feel that Bungie has been going for with the recent dlcs, I feel that it would be very fitting for coldheart and its catalyst to have the following changes:
Base gun: “Base and elite enemies now fully freeze for a while after a short period of concentrated fire from coldheart”
Catalyst: “landing a final blow on a frozen enemy causes them to explode, freezing other nearby enemies”
The time it takes to freeze an elite should be longer than base enemies. Major enemies could be considered for this effect as well. Ultras definitely should not be affected by the full freeze effect (although seeing calus or some other raid boss fully freeze over would be a funny sight to see). I think this change is not only fitting to the current and upcoming dlcs, but it would give coldheart a fighting chance against the other trace rifles of destiny 2. Hope you all enjoy reading this post. Feel free to comment below any questions or ideas and pick an option in the poll to get an idea of what people would like to see (hopefully I’m using the poll option correctly since I’ve never used it before).
TLDR : coldheart should fully freeze base and elite enemies after firing at them for a while. Its catalyst should cause frozen enemies to explode from coldheart final blows, freezing other nearby enemies.

You do know why it’s called cold heart right? It’s not actually freezing enemy’s the gun just gets so hot that it need basically liquid nitrogen to cool it properly
