North of Offtopic, The Sea Floor
I squinted my eyes, trying to make out the shape in front of the mini sub I was piloting.
"WOAH." I said as I came up on an undersea plain, filled with lightly rippling sea grass. bioluminescence ablaze in the darkness.
After I was done gaping in awe of the sights around me, I saw a large boat heading over my sub, towards a dark shape under the water in the distance. I decided to follow the boat, wondering what they were doing.
Arriving at the dark shape, I found it to be several tower-like formations.
They looked organic, like they were sculpted out of coral, and limestone.
The sub shook as something hit the seafloor, heavy, and it sounded metallic.
Whatever decided to land here, they'll have to learn that this is MY domain now.
I opened the sub hatch, casting a spell to make sure I didn't drown as I did, and I climbed out into the dark waters.
Barrels of...industrial waste? And not even properly sealed? The contents, a bright green viscous fluid, were already leaking out onto the seafloor, poisoning the grass, and leaving husks of plant-life in it's wake.
I waved my hand, and Abyssilialite flowed to encase the spillage, compressing it into a 1 foot square. The hole in the barrel was patched, and I decided to enter the tower, looking for what I could acquire to either stop, or make sure that the waste didn't kill anything or one for that matter.
I floated along the broken bridge to the first, and biggest tower. The bridge looked to be relatively old, judging by a few hundred thousand years, but my handheld device in my hand said it was older then the planet by a couple thousand years? If I didn't know better, (and hadn't had several encounters with time-traveling psychopathic beings), I would believe it wasn't possible.
Upon entering, I found a large atrium, the floor white limestone, around 5,000 square feet of unblemished panels, each engraved with a geometric design.
In the back of the room, two staircases curved up to another level.
On both sides of the room, a large arch opened to the outside as well. I walked up the stairs, taking in the sights.
Once I had searched the other towers, I found what I needed to clean up the waste, and reuse it for my own purposes.
Several Days Later...
I got the processing plants up, and they were steadily churning out usable metals and materials of a high quality, near pure. All it would take is some more processing, and I would have perfectly pure resources to use, and a steady source at that. Hopefully the company, or faction dropping the barrels wouldn't stop in the next couple hundred years.
After I finished the processing plants, I started looking for volcanic vents, trying to direct them into one of the towers, so I could have a steady source of Abyssilialite, and I could use the carbon from the by products of the processing plants to enhance the quality.
Better get working on that project. I left to go to the center of the main tower, to work on what was needed to prepare the area.
Several More Days Later...
Word has been spreading around Offtopic, word of an area of water north of the main island, where any ship that enters it is always lost in the mist and fog, a Devil's Triangle of modern times, not scan, not radar, not any matter penetrating beam can expand their gaze in the area. A few passenger ships had made the mistake of passing through the couple hundred miles of mist and fog, and disappeared, never seen again. The Police and the Coast Guard have a mess on their hands, and they have requested help from anyone better equipped to handle it.
