So we've all had poor backfill experiences due to a number of reason. You're often thrown into a losing match (hence why the person left) and are already at a disadvantage.
To help give a fighting chance, I suggest the backfiller is given super energy proportional to how much of the match has been missed. This can be calculated off of time elapsed or current score or an algorithm combining both.
It sucks to load in with no super energy while the opposition all has there or are close.
Now this suggestion won't fix everything but I think it'd be a nice QoL change for all of us.

Absolutely. I played a match yesterday that was a joke. I loaded in to a score something like 50-3. The first thing I heard, before my feet had even touched the ground was a golden gun activation. I immediately died to it, without chance to do a single thing. My first 3 or 4 deaths were all to supers. I finished 0.53 or something awful. My "team mates" were horrendous, a couple of them finished 0.07 or similar. I never got my super before mercy ended the game.

Imagine a Crucible with no supers, just straight up gunplay. Anyways I agree. I Absolutely hate been thrown into a game that has their supers. It really sucks.
-
Actually it needs to just be removed from the game! All it does 9 times out of 10 is waiste the person being dropped into the games time! Which already takes almost 5 minutes to get into anyway!

Coding is hard dog.
-
Its really not that big a deal, just get yourself some high intellect and if you happen to be a good player, you will get your super just as fast. I don’t see a reason to get rewarded for doing nothing
-
LoL while I agree We’ve been asking for this since D1. Have a bump anyway!

The only bright side to that scenario is that when you do get your super, generally the others have already used theirs and have not regained them yet. Less chance of getting blade barraged out of your stormtrance...
-
You're not the first person to request this and I agree that they need to figure out a way to do it. One thing you would have to guard against is people who get their super, use it, drop out of the match and rejoin back on a fireteam member before the spot can be filled thus getting all the base super energy back. I do not know how much would be impacted in order to prevent that from happening.
-
I disagree as supers these days can be easily challenged. The right build and amount of kills you can have a super twice or 3 times a game. I know my opinions arent popular. But what would be nice is keeping your super energy youve earned if you get error coded and are able to return to the game in progress with it.

been asked for since d1 vanilla; it's (unfortunately) not going to happen. I could see them disabling supers once people rejoining before actually doing something that makes sense.
-
Makes sense to me 👍
-
Hell, I'd just like to be able to see the other damn team.

This is one of those things that could work very well or very poorly. Depending on the score and time elapsed, they could easily change the outcome of the match, especially if the team missing members is missing more than one. In times when a team is missing members, it would probably be better to give that team either more health/shields or damage depending on the number of open slots. No matter what you come up with, it's more than likely not going to work. Personally, I'd think it'd be bs if because halfway through the game (time/score) some Warlock who uses top tree Dawnblade too much joins and slaughters the team with his super and half the time still have enough energy to kill the team again. It's about as likely to work as spawn invincibility (as much as this game feels like it needs it half the time) or the buff above.

It’s honestly crazy every time you join a crucible match all you hear is “heavy ammo inbound” “supers poping” “dying teammates”.
-
We’ve been asking this since September 2014
-
Honestly the best implementation would be to divide the super bar as you said by the time in a match. 10 min match is the norm right. So break it down to 1/3 of super bar for every 3 mins that have passed in the match for any players that join.

It especially sucks when you have a super kill bounty
