Ya, Solstice is a weird holiday to have, especially this year, with all the shit that's going on (in game).

I remember there was another time a holiday happened at the same time as some other tense plot line was going. When that happened there was lore about Eva convincing the Vanguard to do the holiday to keep spirits up. Plus we got some lore about the worry of the Pyramids getting people to enjoy time with each other more. So I think it’s understandable that we have Solstice now.
