Sooooo is everyone gonna just go on ignoring the ugly little elephant in the room that is ......the Farm??
I mean social spaces are a key aspect of the game. There where we fill a good chuck of time in between shooting and looting.
D1 had alot of epic magical really well done social spaces .from the reef , to the iron temple to the tower. With it's under ground music machine to the speakers room. To the vangurd area. The d1 tower seems vast compared to the Hot trash fleemakert that is the D2 tower.
The orginal d1 tower has so many diffrent and diverse areas.
What dose d2 give us? Lack luster unimaginative social spaces. Where half the mpcs are MIA for months if not years. There is not a single visually diverse spot in d2 the farm.
The farm is all due respect was a interesting idea. But not fleshed out anuff in scope or end game by bungie. After you beat the campaigns there is litterlly no reason to return there. Like Ever!
You have removed all but 1 vendor and a post master. And visually it has not recived a update since launch . Why? How has the game gone on so long with so many areas just forgotten about. I undertsnad that guns and pvp and seasons..... well maybe not seasons are important. But I would say agein that social spaces help to flesh out your world. There equally important to keeping long term players involved and wowed by your world.
You should spend time evoveling these areas over seasons. By which I dont mean opening up a new area that disappears. I mean building on your social spaces like a lego house every season. Opening new doors,areas, adding new secrets and things to do.
If you added 3 or 4 mocs at the farm. A unique clan arms dealer. That had clan weapons. And even a few exotic armor peace's . That you built up a rank for every season. Then you got to pick from maybe 1 of 3. The clan gunsmith could sale not only clan fire arms. Guns with your clans insignia and colors. But he could also sale clan weapon mods. These mods would be able to be added to guns on top of what ever mod we have equipped now. Giving you bonuses . When playing with a group or fellow clan member. These mods would change ever season. No exp but change. What ever weapon you had them in would still stay the same. The clan gun Smith could also bring back arms week. You pick from any number or new clan gun founders test out a gun for a week . Your able to switch around the perks or reroll the weapon. At the end of the week. You put in the order you want the roll you want and you receive your weapon tbe following week.
Destiny 1 at the end of its life cycle was a 100x better a game then D2. Balanced better. Weapons all felt more powerful. Yet stable your selections and options in both power and weapons types. Was vastly more in depth then anything we have seen in d2. Arms week and class spacific exotic weapons. That you could only recived randomly by leveling up the gun Smith. Was a amazing idea. People I meet and players In game always agree we have no idea why you took them out. Stuff like that goes a long way to the end game.
Not all these exotic time gated quest. There should be balance between raid exoric drops, open world exoric drops ,seasonal drops, quest, and then in my personal opinion the THE GUN SMITH SHOULD DROP UNIQUE EXOTICS FROM JUST LEVELING UP! a few speciality weapons that get updated and or chnaged out every other season . Having class specific exotics . Was just what THE GURDIAN GAMES WAS MISSING!!!! a class spacific awesome exotic weapon would have been worth the grind alot more then any armor. Or minuscule public event or statue. Everything is so cosmetic in game.
Seems like not alot of thought goes into funcatinality.
With factions being removed from the game introducing new mpcs and characters at the farm could be just what the game needs to move forward. And not just keep rehashing old junk. Clans could be a better version of factions. It could introduced some of hawthorns old clan mates. Maybe some of cydes.
A gunsmith -with a full catloge of clan weapons and mods. You can only get there. Aslo emblems all vendors should get like 4 emblems a season and a sparrow and ship to grind for like in d1.
A Golden age Lore hunter-or brew master.
That could give you daily bounties and or a weekly quest to hunt down clues on golden age Lore and history. Page's, voice recordings, visual cut sceanes. Like in the devision 2. They could offer you plantery materials , glimmer, and maybe a golden age weapons or exotic armor peace of two. Now and agein. Also ....emblems.
Or Brewmaster.- person that has you hunt down plantery materials, then turns those into consumable buds for you. Luke potions in a mmo. They would only work I pve of course.
Clan battlemaster- the beginning of every week you pledge your clan up aginst another clan you pick from. You do like we do now complete weekly objectives. Bounties ect and even private pvp matchs to ses who can get the most points. At the end of the week the clan with the most points. Is awarded some form of token. Or you can go to the battle master to buy penical armor, and weapons. With your points. You get more points for doing activitys with armor and weapons with your clans insignia and colors.
Lastly clan mechanic- you could go to this person to buy sparrows and ships. But you could custom them with your clans colors insignia other random things maybe mods or asstic ornimintation and or horns, extre booster mods for sparrows. That increase the speed past 160, armor mods for sparrows so that you could take more then 2 shots before exploding. Even lifts so that your sparrow sits up off the ground a bit. So that when you jump off a cliff and land it doss not explode instead TVs gravity lifts. On your mod kicks in a float ya. Different exhaust effects for sparrows.
And exotic ghost shell mods to provide bonus in pve other the the lack luster perks ot ghost have now.
Also add a gun rang to the farm so many player bring that up when I'm in a fire team shooting the Shhhh. Why not? Add min shooting games and the ability to test weapons and high schools with the person next to you for prizezs.
Maybe add a Sparrow -StuntTRACK LIKE In a skate park. If sparrows went faster like they did I. D1 people would love doing stunts like we did in d1. Catching air ect. This would also make sparrow perms relevent agein as of right now the only perk that really matters is faster spawn Time. And take less fire. You can't get anuff speed for the or right for any of the d1 style sfx tricky moves to matter . No superman's no rolls. What happend to that stuff? It was amazing in d1. By keeping sparrows limited in there speeds and evulation. You are making all this new light player miss out on what was a amazing experience in destiny. Sparrows are a key part of the world and game play. It seems like bungie forgot this . And has continued to ignore it since the launch of D2. Evolve the meta! YOUR META!
Adding these New mpcs and maybe building on to the farm as the seasons go buy you notice new areas and building pop up. There clan night where there are unique activitys. Add some motor showers and cool world events. To get people to enjoy the space more. Add a few mysterys. The big bad darkness is comming. Let's start to see social spaces prep AND GROW IN A BIG WAY! Makes sense to me. But hay... I. Just me. Just as many people as this might have made sense to. Well there are just as many people who say deleat the farm. What is this guy talking about who cares.
To each others own I say to them. But these same people probably used to enjoy the heck out of the visiting the reef. And the tower at the end of d1. The games got alot of moving parts. More matters to the big picture long term end game. Between raids and seasons. And dlc. Is the glue. Clans , social spaces, the app. Things we interact with for hours on hours days and weeks. And that have not really been keep up. And or addressed or evolved since launch. I would just like to see that.
