Just finished 5.3 msq.
I am speechless. What a -blam!-ing ending to this expansion. I will share pics and all of my character in the following weeks.
Heroes Gauntlet was really good dungeon and felt like the final dungeon of a singleplayer game.
And Elidibus being The Warrior Of Light from the 1st Final Fantasy as a Trial was top notch. Just amazing.
Alright, since you talked about the dungeon and trial, I'll give my thoughts on those. Dungeon:
The Heroes' Gauntlet is conflicting. Visually, it's absolutely stunning. Story wise, it's amazing. The bosses were really good, I wasn't too big a fan of the first boss myself, the Ninja, but everyone else I know liked it. The second and final bosses were really good though. Where I stop liking it is during the trash. Coming from Anamnesis Anyder with it's 3 pack pull and final mega pull, 5 groups of 2 packs and then forced single pulls at the end are kind of dissapointing. As a tank main, I live for pain, and this trash feels the least threatening in all of ShB.
Trial:
Holy crow the warrior of light was fun. Opening with a heal check while not unheard of, was interesting to see the panic in the healers' eyes. The fire and ice mechanic was fun to keep track of, especially since he delays it so much later in the fight. His tankbusters were nice and spicy. I always make sure to get hit with 1 unmitigated so I can see how hard they hit. 100k+ damage on those, very spicy. His drawing triangle mechanic was okay, I don't like having to move the boss. Phase transition: the rift between planes in a way, looked really cool and menacing, though seems really harsh that if 1 person fails it's a wipe. Then, the resummoning. That hand wave, that's all I'm going to say. Phase 2: Opens with WoL charging an LB4, and I think requires a tank LB3 to survive. The only other non savage fight that requires that is I think Alexander Prime, so it was nice to LB for once. From here on, his mechanics are mostly the same, just more complex. Some additional things are his spectors, with the stack meteors, the giant domes of death, and the tidal wave. He has a few extra skills himself, his holy stack with the one who has to split off, his Braver with it's directional cones, the double line stack Desperado, and finally the meteors. Also...that music.
In conclusion:
I'm just glad we got the cat boi back.
