Okay, since even D1 I don't ever remember these grenades being useful in PvP, neither have they ever been used in PvE (from my knowledge) and from D2 it seems to be the same situation.
There was an exotic that made these grenades absolutely brutal in PvP in D1 but still I'd like to see something new so here's a couple suggestions I thought of before I head to work at 03:30 in the morning; yay!...
Idea 1: Change the grenade to a DoT (Like Witherhoard except not as potent), AoE that staggers (Slows) and inflicts an enemy inside with a debuff titled 'Devoured by Void' - This effect is the DoT that slows and drains the life out of an enemy that has been inside the grenade's well even if a target leaves the well they are still affected by 'Devoured by Void' effect, as the opponent is being drained, the user of the grenade is devouring the target and gaining health from the DoT.

If you have affected someone with the grenades effect and you are at full health you gain an over shield equivalent to the amount of health drained. This over shield is depleted over time.)
Idea 2: Change the grenade to a fusion grenade, except Void version, instead of burning the same 'Devoured by Void' is inflicted, if the opponent explodes before the DoT effect has its chance to infect them then any of the opposing members near their combusted team mate has been inflicted with the effect of 'Devoured by Void'.
-I'd like to point out, I mainly play PvP and have only just gotten back into Destiny 2 after a couple years so I understand I may not be in much of a position to post any change suggestions. I just wouldn't mind seeing something new in this class, I like all the classes, just felt the grenades haven't seen much action since D1 imho. I can't wait to get stuck into this game again and thank you all for spending time to read this.

Changing something for the sake of pvp utility has never, in the history of this game, been a good idea. They do need a rework though, yes.
