Okay, since even D1 I don't ever remember these grenades being useful in PvP, neither have they ever been used in PvE (from my knowledge) and from D2 it seems to be the same situation.
There was an exotic that made these grenades absolutely brutal in PvP in D1 but still I'd like to see something new so here's a couple suggestions I thought of before I head to work at 03:30 in the morning; yay!...
Idea 1: Change the grenade to a DoT (Like Witherhoard except not as potent), AoE that staggers (Slows) and inflicts an enemy inside with a debuff titled 'Devoured by Void' - This effect is the DoT that slows and drains the life out of an enemy that has been inside the grenade's well even if a target leaves the well they are still affected by 'Devoured by Void' effect, as the opponent is being drained, the user of the grenade is devouring the target and gaining health from the DoT.
-
If you have affected someone with the grenades effect and you are at full health you gain an over shield equivalent to the amount of health drained. This over shield is depleted over time.)
Idea 2: Change the grenade to a fusion grenade, except Void version, instead of burning the same 'Devoured by Void' is inflicted, if the opponent explodes before the DoT effect has its chance to infect them then any of the opposing members near their combusted team mate has been inflicted with the effect of 'Devoured by Void'.
-I'd like to point out, I mainly play PvP and have only just gotten back into Destiny 2 after a couple years so I understand I may not be in much of a position to post any change suggestions. I just wouldn't mind seeing something new in this class, I like all the classes, just felt the grenades haven't seen much action since D1 imho. I can't wait to get stuck into this game again and thank you all for spending time to read this.

All they need to do is fix the damn bouncing bug. If they would ever fix that, it would be one of the best grenades in the game.
-
Just get back the nothing manacles so we can throw out two. Amd voidfang vestments for an extra tracker

Edited by Starkweather: 8/9/2020 6:53:27 AMIf they made the scatter grenades more like a purple wood chipper it wouldn’t need changing. It has horrendously bad damage and the tracking when charged with Attunement of Chaos is almost nonexistent.
-
These are interesting ideas but unlikely to happen. Scatter grenades just need to have a bigger and more consistent aoe on the explosives because direct hits pretty much always fail to do noticable damage. And when you pair this with how good we can fight in the air now compared to d1 they just aren't capable of being good because of how often we are in the air (which hurts consistency even more). If you didn't know, top tree void charging a scatter grenade actually makes them track targets, but it doesn't change just how crappy that grenade is.
-
They should be just like they were in D1. High instant damage
-
Bring back nothing manacles and make them as good as D1. They were amazing in pve and pvp
-
They're still bugged where every now and then they bounce up and down instead of detonating. Been this way for 6 years now
-
I’m confused, sure their is the bouncing bug but I basically never use anything but scatter in PVE and PVP. Apparently that’s not “meta” but it’s the only voidlock grenade that at least feels worth it damage wise. Seeker is easily dodged in PVP and eh in PVE, while the Vortex is just a reskin of its solar counterpart. Just my opinion though, Nothing Manacles would be a welcome addition though.
-
Changing something for the sake of pvp utility has never, in the history of this game, been a good idea. They do need a rework though, yes.
-
Scatter grenade were meta for a long time in D1 pvp. It caused them to nerf Nothing Manacles so bad they had to buff them again. They were alway one of the top pve grenades in the entirety of D1. D2 ruined Voidwalker period.
-
Doesn’t warlocks have access to vortex grenades? What’s the point in making another dot grenade?
-
Buff them so they're more like D1. Immediate burst damage at the point of impact.
-
Just take away that stupid glitch where it just keeps bouncing in place and I'll be happy with that.
