Veteran dialogue is one of the few rewards in Destiny that gives no cosmetic or mechanical advantage nor prestige to the player. It is an addition that allows dedicated players to know their time and care was not only recognized but valued. This, however, is not an obtainable award in the current state of Destiny, even if you play every mission, raid, and event that Destiny 1 currently has to offer. Achieving 5000 grimoire score has no permanence or carry over to your Destiny 2 account if it was begun a day after the 2017 transfer. Further, players that recreated their beloved guardian on Destiny 2 PC when it released do not have access to veteran dialogue, even if their account is cross-saved with the same PS or Xbox profile that earned thousands of grimoire score on Destiny 1. This needs to change.
As someone who has invested thousands of hours into this game, it is beyond saddening to not see that time and passion reciprocated by Bungie. What I am advocating for here, the activation of veteran dialogue on accounts with a linked Destiny 1 PS/Xbox profile, costs Bungie nothing. These lines and the triumph slide show displayed beneath Veteran characters is already present on other guardian’s accounts.
In a time where Bungie is constantly accused of ignoring player wishes and making development decisions purely for profit, this would be a costless action that demonstrates to the community that their time and care is valued.
