A friend and I were just talking one day and decided that we should write down some ideas for Destiny 2 that we thought would be cool. Here is what we came up with:
General Idea: Destiny 2, but with floor pushing (like Greater Rifts in Diablo).
Add leader boards. Competitive PvE for what team can push the furthest floor. Names can get out there other than just “World’s first raid complete.”
The further you go down floors, the better the loot.
Have some sort of unlock system. Ex. reach floor 50 and unlock the newest raid. This would prepare people for the raid with gear, levels, etc. And it would make floor pushing forcible to a certain point, but not necessarily for those who want to grind too far.
Along with this, the raid gear would actually be worth getting, maybe even slightly overpowered (for PvE only. Clearly this wouldn’t be fair for PvP players. But the gear you get in the raid could help you push further in floors.)
Have some sort of milestones with this. Another unlock idea: Reach floor 150, unlock an extra exotic slot (PvE only). Again, this could help people push further floors. And having multiple exotic slots would prove that you absolutely earned the right to be OP that season (Again, this is for PvE only. You shouldn’t be able to do this in PvP). Reset this capability each season.
Overall, if any idea goes through, we want floor pushing. This would make PvE more competitive (and fun). In most rpgs, it is very common to see “how far can I push my character or how OP can I make my character.”

Another idea: Horde mode
Constant onslaught of enemies, enemies get tougher, but you get bonus perks along the way. (like bonus damage, health, etc.)
The further the rounds you go, the higher chance you have for certain gear/exotics at the end of the game.
Have some sort of currency to buy things when the run is over. You could buy perks in game, but that could lower the amount of money you have at the end to buy that juicy exotic. So if you end up saving money and making it harder on yourself, the more money you have at the end.

Using Prison of Elders, there can be a smaller social space like the reef in D1 but instead you match make into the social space with other premade or not fireteams and acts like a marketplace or hub to prepare for the horde mode run/competition. There would also be a single fireteam mode available
In order to get placed in competitive mode or single fireteam you would choose like you would choose the difficulty of the nightfall. All aspects would be the same for both lobbies but would not have competitive rewards and leaderboard would not matter.
The instance stays reserved to you and those other fireteams until you forcefully go to orbit or complete a certain amount of runs (2 or 3+) or go a certain length (room 15+).
There would be a constantly refreshing scoreboard for those fireteams in that instance to provide a competitive edge.
You would earn rewards on how well you do.
If you were to finish your run before other fireteams you would collect your rewards with a 5 minute time before you were kicked to orbit, where you would have to queue for a new run.
It would have a NPC that has bounties and modifiers that the lobby would vote on (otherwise it would have no modifiers)
Also would include another cryptarch to decode the engrams you earn while in there.
Instead of going to the social space and then going back to orbit to start your run. The first room is always the same and will allow more than one fire team to participate and once the encounter is complete three (or less or more) doors become open and available to access. (Imagine being in a VIP room for a basketball game. The VIP is the social space and the basketball court and seats is the first basic buffer room. Doors open from VIP to the court and start clearing the room).
Each door represents a difficulty and once you run through a certain distance the true run begins and becomes procedurally generated from here on out..
You are put into your own instance like you would when you go into a lost sector.
Each room would gradually become harder and harder eventually adding champions, strike bosses and basic damage raid bosses.
The flow:
Queue for either competitive or casual
Load into the lobby, pick up bounties
Load into first room with all other fireteams, clear room and compete for most kills (no damage towards other guardians at all)
(Casual) Difficulty rooms open and you choose which one you’d like to embark on. (Competitive) Difficulties would be chosen in orbit and that SINGLE door opens
All guardians either walk through door or timer forces joining
At this point they are put into their own instance and all rooms are the same for all fireteams but are procedurally generated
Continue clearing rooms and moving on to the next room until fireteam wipes
Every 7th room is a mod clear and boss room
Eventually champions then strike bosses then then raid bosses (only requiring basic mechanics or only damage) will be put into the mix
Score is recorded for round 1 and so on for further runs.
Once everyone has completed the run you would collect your position rewards and after a long enough timer be kicked back to orbit
Just two gamers just having some fun with ideas for Destiny 2. Let me know what you think.
