Every time there's a change in the PVP MM methodology it does several things:
- Further divides the community
- Creates animosity and toxicity
- Give one side or the other less choices for modes to play (in their favored MM type)
- Affecting the player base numbers to any degree
I can go on.
Right now (and for a while really) there are too many playlists to choose from and one side or the other has less than ideal choices to play where they have fun.
So here's my suggestion:
3 Playlists. (We have like 7 now? Not including Trials and IB)
- A CBMM playlist with both teams and Freelance (solo)
- An SBMM playlist with both teams and Freelance (solo)
- The same Comp list we have now. teams and Freelance
That's it
Get rid of the notion of 'core' and 'rotator'
- Include (some of) the 'Rotating' 6v6 modes into the 'main' 6V6 CBMM playlist (maybe they can still rotate but just be in that 1 playlist)
- Include (some of) the 'Rotating' 4v4 modes into the main SBMM and make Elimitation 4v4 to match (I think this would give better play to those wanting SBMM anyway)
- Comp would remain the same
- Trials would remain the same.
This is still a rough idea but I feel like it not only simplifies things but gives enough choice on playstyle and individualized fun.
I'm not sure where to but IB in the MM category.
It's 6v6 it is pseudo-PVP engame for the more casual player (Non Comp or Trials)
I'd like to see what the IB numbers and feedback are this week.
Thanks for your time in reading this and I hope we can have a good discussion.
Edit1:
I forgot about Rumble.
It's kind of an odd one being 'solo' clash
It could simply be its own listing.

All good thoughts. Why not just respect your players and allow them to decide with option toggles in PVP and pve? Prefer Cbmm or sbmm? Play solo? Difficulty level? Timer active? Contest active? Revives?

Too many playlist wow really... Hmm Yr1D2. Quickplay and Competitive. Yeah the playlist are okay with improvements but definitely we dont need 2 like in year 1
-
So why should the sbmm playlists only be 4v4 and 3v3.
-
1. Classic Mix (Clash, Control, Supremacy, Rift) 2. 6v6 Rotator (Mayhem, Team Scorched, Momentum Control, Combined Arms) 3. Rumble 4. 3v3 Rotator (Elimination, Countdown, Breakthrough, Lockdown, Showdown) 5. Competitive (Clash, Control, Supremacy, Countdown, Breakthrough, Lockdown, Showdown, Survival) (Solely rank-based matchmaking) 6. Proving Grounds (3v3 Clash, Control, Supremacy with SBMM)

Or how’s this idea? Create one CBMM relaxed mode where KDA and KD is not tracked. There players may try out different load outs and practice getting better at crucible at no cost.
-
This is a very good idea IMO and seems like it would be very simple.

Edited by TJ_Dot: 6/29/2020 8:44:19 PMNOOOOOO WE NEED TO MERGE Do you want another Classic Mix scenario?? I'm sick of this shit, why do we keep encouraging separation based on MM preference when that screws with MM entirely. WHEN ARE WE GOING TO LEARN? This crap perpetuates the stupid cycle I'm sure plenty of you are tired of hearing WAKE UP!
So how do we fix a personal problem with MM that everyone experiences differently? Give everyone the CHOICE of what they want. And NO what we have now or before was NOT a choice. The second you start separating players in different playlists because some want one MM and others the other, it is NO LONGER A CHOICE. When player pools for one are sabotaged, the concept of choice has died. people migrate to the more populated pool naturally because that means actually finding a game and not against the same 6 stack that just murdered them.
Edited by pacificdune: 6/29/2020 7:41:16 PMI could get on board with this. 1. 6v6 cbmm playlist including control and clash. 2. 3v3 or 4v4 sbmm playlist including clash and skirmish. Trials and comp as is. Comp maybe renamed. Or just take the 3v3 playlist for glory points. Cbmm = valor points. Sbmm = glory points.
