Part 2 of this little series. I learnt a few bits researching this next post. Anyways, shorter intro so I can get more down without having to make an answer comment. Part 2, this time focussing on Inner Sol (except Earth, which is in the link, and Mercury which I forgot about). Again, if you know of a location I missed, be sure to let me know in a comment.
Luna:
Ocean of Storms
The Ocean of Storms is the main location of Luna that we visit in both D1 and D2. It has heavily changed over time. During the Golden Age, it was a place used by Clovis Bray and the Aeronautics of China to mine into the K1 sites, where they found an artefact of the Darkness; heavily suggested to have then been placed inside the Anomaly at Mare Cognitum. In D1, we knew the area to be the location that saw Eliksni House of Exile occupation, as well as the Brood of Crota and the Hidden Swarm, attempting to turn the moon into what would likely be a War Moon, given the depth of the burrowing effort the Hive went through. In D2, the Traitor’s Ketch (Taniks, the Scarred personal ketch) has fallen into the Anchor of Light, and a new area has opened up, called the Sorrow’s Harbour, located near the Scarlett Keep built over the Luna Pyramid being used by the Hidden Swarm as a means of power.
Mara Ibrium
Another area we know little about. However, it was one of the areas of major conflict during the Great Disaster. Here Crota turned the Sky into a green fire and slaughtered well over 50 guardians. It was one of the areas where nothing short of a slaughter occurred, including the death of Wei Ning.
Ghost Fragment 2: Warlock 2
[static event]
It showed me the battle. It showed me Wei Ning dead on Crota's blade. It showed me how Crota killed a Guardian with a screaming knife hammered out of his own Ghost.

Tell me how to kill Crota.
[static event]
Incredible. Where? Where is his throne? Where is the twilight world under the dead star eye?
/Eriana there's word from the company in Mare Imbrium. Crota is upon them. Half a hundred dead. They need us.

/Crota marches with a thousand Knights and they say the sky above Mare Imbrium has turned into green fire. They are dying in numbers I cannot bear to repeat. He kills them one by one with a sword that eats their Light. Eriana, we have to do something -
Mare Cognitum
Much like Mare Imbrium, we know little about it. Outside it containing the First Light exobotany and the K1 artefact storage at the anomaly.
The Anomaly:
ARENA DESIGNATION: Anomaly
LOCATION: Mare Cognitum, Earth's Moon
Documents recovered on-site listed this research station only as "K1", although the location was hard to keep secret, given the intense electromagnetic fluctuations emanating from what City scholars have come to know as the Anomaly. Attempts to scan the Anomaly itself have proven futile, as the casing is constructed in a manner that defies modern techniques.
First Light:
ARENA DESIGNATION: First Light
LOCATION: Mare Cognitum, Earth's Moon
What was once an unassuming exobotany laboratory complex turned into ringside seats to the end of the world during the Collapse.
Burning Lake
The Burning Lake is the location where what is possibly the first battle of the Grate Disaster occurred. It saw Guardians secure a victory against the Hive, although it was a major demonstration of the Hive’s strength. Especially through their usage of Swords.
Raze-Lighter:
“Did you not read my report from Burning Lake? About the Hive's weapons? Those swords, they're like nothing we've ever—”
Cryptarch:
We have detailed records of the expedition sent to the Moon to battle the alien race known as the Hive, the calamitous results of that assault, and the subsequent Lunar Interdiction that was lifted only after definitive evidence was found that the Interdiction had not restricted the Hive’s movements (Rahool et al., “The Great Disaster: From Burning Lake to the Hellmouth”).
Venus:
Ishtar Sink
The Ishtar Sink. A hub of vast knowledge, and location of the Archives, one of the largest collections of information. The Sink has always had a large presence from the Vex, however during the Golden Age, they seemed to only be studied by that of Humanity, and not provoked to our knowledge. It is localisation to a volcano which spews a blue lava rich in Sulphur. At present, the Ishtar sink region has succumbed to heavy erosion, with much of the city falling into the water. The area has some key locations of note; mainly the Citadel, a vex gateway into time, and the Vault of Glass. The planet was also a hot spot for the Wish Dragons, The Ahamkara. Before the Red War, House Winter made the region their home, and it also saw occupation during the Taken War. How much of the area the Red Legion held is unclear, but it’s suggested to be the case they have made a presence on the planet at the least.
Pomona Mons
Location of the floating Garden, not much is known about this place created by the vex. It was seized by the redjacks during the SIVA crisis, where guardians used it as a crucible arena.
Floating Gardens - Pomona Mons, Venus:
ARENA DESIGNATION: Floating Gardens
LOCATION: Pomona Mons, Venus
“Whether this site ever held the fabled beauty of the other gardens is unclear, as the Vex had long overwritten it with their anabolic algorithms. But it belongs to the Crucible now, and when I see heavy weapons fire tearing across the landscape, all I see is beauty.”—Lord Shaxx
Maat Mons
The area of Maat Mons contains a commonly used and very well-known crucible map, the Shores of Time. Used by both the Ishtar Collective as a research base, and the Vex; the region contains Sulphur caves, probably a bi-product of the composition in the lava and volcanoes which I’d imagine it’s connected to (I’m not a Science expert).
Shores of Time:
ARENA DESIGNATION: Shores of Time
LOCATION: Maat Mons, Venus
The sulfur caves along the Shores of Time are now too unstable to be an effective base of operations for the Vex, but they suit the purposes of the Crucible just fine.
Mars:
Meridian Bay
Location to where the great Martian city of Freehold used to lie, the collapse has seen the area covered in sand, and the city become buried beneath the red wastes. Cabal scout legions occupied this area, with the Vex having a semi-major presence there, as they defended their artefacts from the Cabal. The Meridian Bay was a marvel to many a technology, especially those created by Clovis Bray, housing a secret Braytech lab that housed information on many projects including that of SIVA. The area also holds one of the once greatest pieces of Vex technology, the Gate to the Black Garden. However, since the arrival of the Red Legion, the Gate has been destroyed, and the region falling completely into Cabal control.
Hellas Basin
Like the Meridian Bay, the Hellas Basin is an area of technological marvel. Deep in the Southern Hemisphere of Mars, the giant impact crater houses Rasputin’s core AI. A place of glacial ice intertwined with the typical Martian Sands. This was the area where Rasputin initiated one of his protocols, Aurora Palisade. This was used to freeze the Hive Brood of Nokris and the Worm God, Xol, Will of the Thousands. In recent weeks, a threat looming has become present, and it’s expected to reach the location withing a few weeks.
Eos Chasma
Not much of the area has been explored, mainly because of the cabal presence. One area cleared and controlled is the Firebase Delphi cabal base used by Lord Shaxx and his Crucible. After the Base was captured, a Hunter claimed that the Cabal were ‘running from something. And whatever they’re running from, it isn’t us’. What this “something” is, remains uncertain.

Olympus Mons
Olympus Mons is one of Mars’ biggest Volcanoes. Not much is known about it; except the fact that the Eliksni House of Kings had an outpost there.
Xander 99-40 idle chatter quote:
"Closed mission, House Kings listening post, Olympus Mons."
The Lost Oasis
One of the strangest but most interesting areas of Mars. Cleared out by the Redjacks, the Crossroads was an oasis which feels very out of place with the Martian Terrain and could be possible insight into what a terraformed Mars could’ve looked like. The area also includes one of the System’s Pyramidian structures built by the Vex.

Lucas Planum expanse: The area of the Lucas Planum is located near the Apollinaris Mons, a Shield Volcano on Mars, that has a Seraph Bunker nearby. Legacy pre-release:
Tectonic groans shake the surface. Apollinaris Mons had been bellowing pyroclastic clouds for two days before the quakes doused its ambition. They shattered the volcano's southern slope, sending the landmass shelves that supported Apollinaris' caldera into freefall. Volcanic lightning forked illumination through plumes of soot over the cascading landslide. The face of Mars shed, and with it the glint of a treasured age was laid bare; grit-polished bone that hung among the alloy-flaked basalt cliffs like trophies in an iron case.
Athabasca Athabasca, or the Candor Isles as it’s also known as, doesn’t have much information about it. It is however the location Uldren Sov landed right after the battle over Saturn. The Aftermath, grimoire card:
He tried to calm himself again, forcing long breaths. He realized where he was: Mars. Athabasca. The Candor Isles. He hadn’t been here in so long, not since he found the Black Garden.
Phobos: Phobos is a strange one. There are no actual locations listed, but rather just Cabal bases. According to a ghost scan during the Coming War mission, "Primus Ta'aun" suspended all Phobos mining operations and recon pending investigation of a trans-Jovian threat. Likely showing that the moon is not only a weapon (Psion’s pulled it out of orbit to be able to use it as an extinction level weapon in case they lose the Red Planet) and a place to keep fleet; but also for mining, which isn’t surprising given what we see on Nessus and Future Mercury during the Sundial incident. It’s location consist of: Fleetbase Korus Fleetbase Korus, Phobus grimoire card
Discovered by Holborn’s Host in association with Lord Shaxx and a Redjack fireteam, Fleetbase Korus marks the largest known Cabal orbital defense station in-system. I do believe this will become a longer series than expected. Next post expect to focus on Mercury and the Asteroid Belt. (Again thanks to Kseth for his help with information about locations).

Excellent work once again! I look forward to to seeing all the other locations. I wonder how many posts it will take lol I have a correction: House Winter was the main Fallen presence on Venus, not House Devils. And, just to nitpick a little, Crota had 50 confirmed kills by the time Eriana got that report. He likely killed many more after that so just to play it safe you can say Crota killed “at least 50” And if you’d like, instead of typing Xa nder with the space you can just use italics on a couple letters like so: Xander That way you don’t have to break apart the name.
