It is by far the most efficient strategy to level your character. If the game had a more efficient leveling system built into it's more legitimate systems we would be utilizing that. Many other games have leveling systems that put you close to end game levels at the end of story content. So you don't have to work as hard. This game makes you play hours upon hours, days upon weeks even, to get to end game levels. And it makes you play content we've already been playing up to this point.
TLDR: If you Make a better leveling experience, you will get more players who want to engage with it And not *want* to find the exploits.

Edited by eternalquiet: 6/15/2020 1:50:23 AMI'm reporting everyone I see doing this. I'm trying to farm forges legit because I need to get Platinum Starling. AFKing is a reportable offense. I'm also trying to extend the clock as much as possible to kick these people out of the queue. My little revenge.

Edited by pacificdune: 6/17/2020 11:19:54 PMLeveling should be closely tied to the amount of content released. This Season has almost no content with the best half of it locked behind days of grinding old activities.

Its a GOD DAMN GAME. IN LITERALLY EVERY -blam!-ING GAME YOU PLAY YOU GRIND TO GET BETTER GEAR. WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE THAT ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT NOT BEING ABLE TO LVL UP FAST ENOUGH? BUNGIE HAS MADE THIS SEASON THE EASIEST SEASON TO LVL UP YOUR CHARACTERS...... You are not ENTITLED TO SHIT! Let me guess you are either one of those free to play players too and or are game sharing and always complain about paying $10 - $30 for DLC? GTFOH MANNN

Edited by GeekCred: 6/15/2020 4:22:26 PMPeople are AFK farming because given the option, no one wants to do bounties. People would prefer to not play the game then do bounties. Bounties are not fun, they never have been. Bungie never listened. Seasonal power cap increases exacerbate this problem. Who wants to spend 2-3 months of the season grinding to get to soft cap, only to do it all over again a month or immediately thereafter? Done properly, this hurts no one. People AFKing @750 and above should be reported and getting temp bans. There's no reason to ruin someone else's game.

Edited by "function{this.Validate(),: 6/15/2020 6:20:55 PMhttps://steamcharts.com/app/1085660#48h Seems like a positive impact on the player-base. Addressing criticisms: If a game has engaging content, arms the player with the correct resources and tools to succeed, actively reward them for their time and effort with meaningful/impactful drops you not only have a successful recipe for a game, but indirectly starve off benefits of AFKs. Things that foster the current AFK farms/mood: Some engaging content. Frequent rewards that amount to little to no perceived "value". Limit potential "valuable" (pinnacle) items to a small number each week that consistently drop the same item. [lowering overall "value" and decreasing limited weekly potential] "Sunset","Retire", or "Nerf" power to items players spent significant time to obtain (Luna's, NF, MT, Recluse, Spare Rations, Last Man Standing, Breakneck, Whisper, Sleeper Simulant, etc). Updates/fixes that are delivered too long and too late [Anarchy, 1K Voices, etc.] Important facts: No one forces anyone to play, there is no argument from me on this. The Developer CAN curtail most exploitation through powerful and impactful rewards, sufficient anti-cheat, active monitoring, in-game testing (variable, goal, and environmental testing), Q&A, transparent and expeditious response from bug notice to patch. You will always have cheaters and outliers who want to watch your game burn. (Insert Louise from Bob's Burgers). Helpful ideas for bugs, problems, etc. Address ALL unique bugs (once is enough, they don't need to repeat themselves) and place on the known bugs list (you've made strides here over time). 99.9% of all addressed unique bugs (this can be broken down further into Github-style issues) should have an estimated fix date within 72-96 hours of notice. Where unable to deliver a time-frame, explain why and how this will be addressed. Where input is needed, ask the community, not small groups. Alternatively, do both and merge the two to find balance. Allow more insights into RNG for transparency in the API: Examples - Specific Roll counts (5 people have X, Y, Z on their Spare Rations). Specific Roll drops (99% of drops of Pinnacle Activitys drop Gloves with a potential* of 40 total armor points) *potential meaning fully masterworked with one +10 stat mod added. 35% of Pinnacles dropped the same gear type (helmet, gauntlets, chest, legs, class, primary, energy, heavy) in a row. Bungie: "RNG is so broken, you don't get it from our view" Offer rewarding alternatives - 5x the chance weekends. Every chest in Raid, Dungeon, or activity "X", drops 5x the rewards AND/OR Public Events on "X" have triple XP. Do not lower RNG to accommodate this either. [IMO - its already too low.] Weekends: For as long as Trials is here and occurs on the weekend, the studio (or remote-studio COV19 circumstances) needs to be manned in full-force. Dev-teams capable of resolving bugs. security teams, bug-hunters, egg-hunters, Q&A, etc. can be on hand to monitor and resolve problems. "Trials is not active this weekend due to X" is a strong indicator there isn't time/staff to solve this over the weekend. Weekend Alternative: Move Trials to week days or approach like Iron Banner, starting on Tuesday (opportunity to rule out problems before the weekend; not full-proof, but minimizes weekend issues). Give Ghost Shell's mod slots for Guiding Light, Public Defender, Sparrow Insta-Summon, Destination Materials. I want to be able to use my Harpy Shell!!!!! I want to stand firmly on a core point here: I think the developers at Bungie are incredibly talented, knowledgeable, and have some of the best minds (tapped or untapped) in the industry. I do however believe that they are not the problem. I see the issues in game, voices of those angry here, but these are not problems devs solve. They are failures in processes and business logic that occur beyond the programming team's desk. I often feel like video games are windows into Dev-life at the studio. Where a player feels unrewarded for their efforts in-game often are strong indicators of problems at the studio with Leadership. I would love to meet more of the staff instead of more community leaders/streamers. I want to meet your engineers, coders, egg-hunters, animation teams, etc. I want to hear their visions, dreams and aspirations at Bungie. I feel that this gives our community greater insights into their lives, struggles and brings us closer together. If ideas, thoughts, or lunch time brain-picking is needed, I am happy to open the doors towards constructive dialog. Cliff Notes: Moon's Haunted. Stranger said "Soon". They just need a good ol swing from the ban hammer imo. Not only are they exploiting loot drops, but they're indirectly hurting the ones that actually want to do the forge. And the argument that the forge is still doable is bullsh*t because while you're overleveled from 750, enemies throughout most of the entire game scale with you (for whatever reason). 1-2 people loaded into a an AFK session drastically lessens the possibility to complete it.

I left midway through dawn. Got a stadia 3 month free so hopped back in for free end of last season. Couldnt be bothred to grind level. Have been playing this season semi regularly and yes it is just a bounty fest absolutely not fun at all. I agree with others the main story expansion in fall should be power level required when we have story missions and lots of content to play. Seasonal should remain at that light but just add difficulty modes if they feel the need, I'll not play enough to be able to do the dungeon and then it goes away next season so I'll simply not play it at all. There isnt enough spare time in my life to grind this game and i wouldnt want to either.

Edited by DeathPony07: 6/16/2020 2:48:15 PMRemember in Year 3 of D1 where you could solo play literally any activity or level up factions ALL THE TIME, and get powerful gear to hit 400 light level? What happened to that? Archon Forge was great for that, and so were skeleton keys.

This post proves one thing: As of this moment, 283 people are dum.
-
Sunset light level.

I mean, I managed to get 1060+ with all 3 characters without needing to use the AFK forge glitch. It's not efficient at all. Sure, if you're someone who can't play often or only play a single character it's efficient for you, but I'm telling you, 3 chars is the way to go.
-
They patched the AFK farm an hour ago.
-
I did it because I was bored doing the same old content. The rewards system needs overhauled as I feel like my time playing normally just isn’t rewarding. Same old slog for little to no benefit to my time invested
-
The problem is they know there game is empty and no one really wants to play 90% of the content so they have to force you to play because fomo. The game is full of content but the continue to leave it behind Imagine if there was no power level and everything was current. So say just level 50 and all content was level 50. Imagine all the raids, Nightfalls, nightmare hunts, dungeons at current level. Put different difficulties on them like that have now (which is basically the power level difference) you would have a rich game and hard content at the same time. Instead they want to remove older content. Remove armor. Remove weapons. Why? Because they don’t want to have such a large game to keep up with. They are just being lazy. Plenty of games out there was massively larger and they run great and get updated all the time.
-
It kind of says something about the game people rather AFK, then play and invest time. Probably something about power being useless and repeating old content burns people out.
-
People are afk farming because they still can't come to terms with the fact that they bought heavily into a game whose genre and mechanics they aren't interested in but are also to stubborn to admit that the game isn't for them. If it were up to them Destiny would be a game where you collect a few different guns and completely abolish the Leveling/Power Leveling concept to run around in what is basically an ever expanding CoD campaign.
-
I see post after post here and everywhere for pay to carry raids, dungeons, trials and more Afk farming is what bungie quickly fixes hahaha.
-
Destiny in a nutshell: Everyone telling everyone else how they should play. Smh.
-
It's over, it's patched. Time to move on.

And now a word from our sponsor RAID Shadow Legends.

I'm not going to make this post to be argumentative, but I will say that it does not take very long to level up in this game (If you ACTUALLY do the powerful challenges). I went from 1002 at the start of this week and I'm now at 1045ish. It took me only a single week to get to this point and yes I play a fair amount of hours every day I can, but if I can do it in a week, then it shouldn't take anyone else longer than 2 or 3. Now you might think that 3 weeks to get to level is a long time but the season is what, 13 weeks long? That gives you 10 whole weeks of being at or near max level (that's a lot of time to do dungeons and high-level NF's if that's what you're trying for). Also, what are you considering endgame? Because none of the raids or dungeons, (with the exception of the new one this season) are high level, and it's not even max. No, I'm not a no lifer (technically). I'm back to working full time these last couple of weeks and I still managed to get in enough time to level up efficiently, and I have to ask, what games do you play that get you to endgame level on the first day after playing a single questline? Because I've never seen one. All games make you play the same content over and over, this realization really helped me with easing my frustration in this game. In CoD you play thousands of matches that are basically the same. Siege is no different. DIvision, Anthem, Fallout, Assasins Creed... all of these games have you doing the same stuff over and over, and only recently is this something that players are upset about. In other MMO games, it is no different. ESO had me running back and forth doing basically the same quests but for different people, WoW is similar. It is just a grindy genre and I think too many players are forgetting that.

Forge AFKers are just chads that have realized the progression system is outdated.
-
Have your used this method? Cause your highest toon is at 939

Until now it was the most efficient. Everyone back to the nause. #Patched

I did 10 Forges at power level 1040 and was never placed into a afk forge. The people who matched with me were at or near my level.
