So as we know, sunsetting is coming to D2. It sucks and most of us hate to see it, but it is not without benefits. As an example, let's look to pinnacle weapons: strong, unique perks, hard to grind for. Compare these to ritual weapons: average, same perks on other weapons, less grindy. The change from pinnacle to ritual was made because Bungie created weapons that had great to OP perks which start to break player experience as time goes on. The introduction of ritual weapons was to hopefully off set those of pinnacles, but, without unique perks, these weapons fell short and never addressed the main problem: pinnacle weapons were continously in all activities PvP and endgame wise. The solution now is to lock those weapons down in terms of usage WITHOUT nerfing them. Now with those weapons being retired, this opens the door to allow Bungie to create pinnacle weapons with new unique perks without them being used endlessly in endgame content which was stifling growth. I mean, why would you use anything except Mountain Top and Recluse in a raid? Mt. Top and Rec. take up the top 15% of weapons used in raids followed by Izanagi and Xeno. The creativity behind finding new and powerful builds has been grounded to a halt being replaced by sure and safe builds. It's time for everyone to leave their comfort zone and start experimenting. As for sunseting armor... that's just... really stupid... period... can't even argue that. Ideas for weapon storage and collections in general: static rolls. Originally D2 had static rolls on weapons making for a less than ideal play style for the looter shooter. Nowadays we have our collections to see what gear we have obtained through the years, but, now with random rolls, it's simply a catalog of collector's past triumphs. It would nice to implement static rolls on collection weapons so we could obtain them and dismantle them as we pleased, but still could grind for better rolls if we wanted to.
