So I'm sure by now we've all done the quest, slogged through the legendary lost sector (i say slogged, that really only applies to those who have yet to "no life" the season) and now have a semi-good auto shotty that is pretty good against bosses. But the quest actually informs us of two major things regarding the Cabal.
So through the text given to us via interaction with one of the 3 vendors related to this quest, we learn 2 very big things that haven't entirely been too clear up until now.
1) Calus is rebuilding his Shadows.
&
2) The Princess Imperial is 100% alive.
Now in reality, none of these are very surprising; we knew Calus wanted to rebuild the Shadows with us at the helm of their rebirth but it looks like he's already putting things into work, which now makes sense for Werner's existence (which always confused me regarding his title because it implies that Calus regards the Frames as a species onto themselves, which I never really thought of. But it also never really suggested he was truly making a new wave of Shadows without us to lead it.); and Caiatl was never stated as dead in any of the Leviathan Raid lore, but I know it's been brought into question by some people.
So what does this mean for destiny? Well it means what we already knew. There is definitely a seat of power for the Cabal at Torobatyl, and that seat is held by Caiatl now. Which now puts her as a possible threat to invade Sol. It would make sense as well, given that she has a motive. Destroying her Father. And this could be where both story points come together in a future season/expansion.
The obvious alternative is for us to go on the offensive this time and attack the Cabal home-world alongside Calus. But we are definitely a while away from this whole idea.
So yeah. Just a few nice little detail about the quest; I'm hoping this season will give us more information on the state of the Cabal's higher ranks.

Leaked lore tab for the machine gun sees more information about Calus’s daughter, so maybe that’ll be a quest with a bit more narrative meat. There’s also the datamined Rasputin dialogue with Ana Bray, so I don’t know where that will fit in... Plus the additional hidden lore book we have yet to see. Could be part of the machine gun quest or Guardian Games.
-
What it also tells us, well me, is that down the road Bungie may bring back more exotics from D1. Vex Mythoclast please Vex Mythoclast please Vex Mythoclast please Vex Mythoclast please

I haven’t done that &!?!$&$ lost sector part. Because I can’t. I’m going to have to get my light level closer to 1000.
-
It tells me that I am too low a light level to complete this quest.
-
Be interesting to see another side of an allegiance story where we join Calus' shadows and fight with his cabal on the homeworld. Or stand by the vanguard and ignore Calus
-
Don't forget Otzot and Umun' Arath.
-
I love that a lore post has just turned into a “I haven’t done the quest because i have no desire to play because i refuse to spend money on destiny because bungie hurt me” post in the replies.
-
Or this could just be the 300th unfinished story of destiny.
-
I don’t see how people can care so much about lore that is hardly represented at all in game. This “quest” can tell me whatever it wants, it’s still just me going around killing numerous cabal and completing tedious tasks.
So I'm sure by now we've all done the quest.
I’m sure the majority haven’t.
-
I did, I infused it into my Python.
-
I haven't done this quest because I have no desire to A. Do patrols and public events, B. Obtain the 4th Horseman, C. Use the 4th Horseman. What in the crap was Bungo thinking with this? The world may never know.
-
Well, lorewise yes, all of this is great. Gameplay wise on the other hand, the only thing it tells us is that Bungie can’t tell the difference of wording between Quest and chore list. Because that’s exactly what half of these quests have felt like lately.
-
I definitely haven’t done the quest. I’ve been to busy doing lame bounties to increase power to play the neckbeards in trials.
-
It tells me I need the season pass to get the quest for it lmao
-
<To whomever told me that Caiatl, Umun'Arath, and Otzot were dead on these forums a while ago... I know more than you.>
-
You know what it also tells us. That bungie is running out of ideas for exotics.
-
Haven't even been into a Bunker, or done a Seraph event much less a Legendary Lost Sector.
-
Did you say the daughter was banging Ghaul to spite daddy at some point? Now it’s, try and most likely fail to kill daddy because she’s an independent woman.
-
Calus sucks. Cant wait for savathun to -blam!- slap him.
-
... You know what I'm really curious about?...
what cabal whamen look like

not included in the DLC
-
Edited by Lore Oradon: 3/19/2020 9:13:12 PMCalus wouldn't commit to an all out war with his own people, he even gave the Red Legion (AKA, Banished him to the Edge of the Universe) a choice to rejoin him, if anything we would as a Shadow assassinate Calus's daughter or he would automatically De-Throne her because Calus is more beloved than her Among his people. That's why Garry couldn't Kill Calus, because a Civil War would have started.
-
Here's what It'll tell you: 4 hours of grinding for the catalyst to no avail. . . Thanks bungie for making another fruitless activity. Another BIG MIDDLE FINGER to all those people who play the game. Time to move on to another game.

What I want to know is what title does she have now? Dominus or empress?
