Can you explain how please? I'm not even 980 on any character yet and have done all 3 characters this week.

Yes I can explain efficient power levelling for you.......We'll I started at 970. When your gear is even (all gear within 1 level of each other) you do the highest drops available to you. I did the raid. So now you have some of your gear alot higher than the one's that didn't drop, there for raising your average power. Next you spend mats at vendors dropping +0s (gear at your power level) but still higher than your lower pices, keep replacing your low gear with these u till there are no more levels to be gained. You're basically levelling up without burning powerful. Once that happens go and do T1 powerful drops until your gear is even again then do a few more high or pinnacle drops and repeat the process until you either cap out at 1000 or run out of drops to do. I use DIM to check my exact level. Example if I'm 990.8 with a weapon at 989 I can get to 991 by just getting a replacement weapon from +0 vendor or even a blue. Sure it's only 1 power level but if you do it every time in between your powerfuls it soon adds up. I also ran Survival on that character for even more drops. As soon as I had 3x 1000 weapons my second to characters where a breeze to get to 1000 base power slowing me to save all their pinnace drops to go above 1000. I hope this helps you or anyone else who reads it.

Crucible, gambit, strikes, GoS, ordeals, etc. Got my first character to 990 and then used the weapons to boost my second character to 990 within 10 or so min. Did some pinnacle and powerful gear activities and can no set his base power to 1000.

Yeah I did exactly that, though haven't run any pinnacle activities. Still about 988 or so at best on all 3.

Started at 960, I don't even see how it's possible to get to 990 on any one, without getting pinnacles.

When I went to my titan he was 970 and I used the weapons from my hunter and the season pass armor to boost him up to 990 light. I then had all the powerful gear to do. My titans armor base is now 1000 power. I’m guessing the combination of you being 960 and maybe you missing a few of the gear sources is the cause. The raid gives a 5 or so power increase when you’re below the pinnacle cap and you don’t get all energy weapons.
