See the link above and scroll down. The conversation is between Osiris and Saint-14.
It's always been an idea back in D1 that when Oryx died something would take on that power and even further possible that multiple entities would try for it, but this is the first time we are referring to it from Bungie's side of things.
What do you all think? Is it possible we have not one, but two taken kings in a potential D3 showdown? Or is it possible too that Savathun herself and not quora are the ones "taking" alongside Xivu Arath in a split of that power?

I think he means taken kings in a sense of referring to oryx without saying his name. It may be Osiris’s informal and also slightly humorous way of saying that I think you’re looking too deep into it. Also: remember, oryx got his taken power from a big worm. Maybe that worm used Echoes too.

With the Touch of Malice missing from our inventory it is highly possible the Hive could get their hands on it and somehow free Oryx’s soul from the weapon.

Considering that both contenders for the Throne at the time of Oryx’s death are female.... going to give a no to that one chief. It’s a general statement. We only know of one Taken King who has utilised echoes. Oryx. But this statement from Osiris does give me hope that Bungie will utilise Echoes to give Savathûn a presence in future, which would be nice. Give us dialogue from the Witch-Queen taunting us as we attempt to thwart her schemes.

I thinks it’s more of a general way of saying; “echoes are for this specific type of person” saying multiple kings isn’t referring to anyone in particular, but just to the mantle itself.
-
1. Yeah. It’s Savathûn and Xivu vying for that throne now. There are no multiple “Kings” 2. Osiris just meant to say “Kings” to say that Echoes are more for those who would call themselves “Taken Kings”. Context.

Edited by Swiftlock: 3/15/2020 3:10:38 AMI think it would've been more interesting and impactful if, you know, this revelation was shown visually through cutscenes and gameplay. Not flavor text. Not lore cards. Not external websites.

<Why should we throw Savathun into D3? She's D2's endgame. Another thing, Savathun isn't splitting that power if she gets it. Quria can take, but only with Savathun's power as a battery. Soon she will free herself.>
