D2 Y1 was a better experience than Y2 and Y3 and had none of the issues that plague players today.
Let’s start with a few talking points about why I think so:
> Static rolls on weapons and armor, putting everyone on level playing field
> inventory management
> no game breaking bugs
> balanced pvp
You’re free to argue against the above points or introduce your own.

Edited by BraddyBo: 2/26/2020 7:20:30 PMPeople that prefer D2 Y1 are just salty that they suck at pvp and they are willing to make pve shit again just so they dont get smashed 24/7 in pvp. Neutered weapon slot system, slow ability regen and slow movement speed almost killed destiny. Many players never got D2 and many quit before hitting lv 20 (~40%). The good thing is that destiny can never be that bad again so no matter what happens next, it still wont be as bad as Y1.

I didn’t like static rolls because it made some weapons completely obsolete. But I can see were you’re coming from that people were on a level playing field.

The only thing I preferred about d2 year 1 was the less emphasis on eververse, and a primary focused pvp. Other than that it wasn’t very good compared to what we have now.
-
Oh and inventory management was better in year 1, because 97% of the stuff was trash, and scharded immediately.

Not going to change your mind. BUT Static rolls sucked, used basically the same 3 guns, all season. End game sucked, yeah some people like end game content. PvP was no more balanced then any other season, everyone used 450 autos and mida. Year 1 ,was so boring. Not saying year 2-3 were great, but better than year 1.

If you are looking purely from a balanced pvp experience, I could come around to that. But in terms of PvE its night and day. D2 Y2 especially introduced a lot of QOL changes and shear content volume that made D2 Y1 look pathetic. The double primary system severely hurt fun and player agency in PvE, and static rolls made most guns released permanently garbage.

Balance = boring. I completely disagree with your static rolls argument. The only thing I can agree with is the bugs are worse now. D2 Y1 was Destiny at its worst.

Random rolls aren't really a problem because everyone is going for the same god rolls so it's almost like having static rolls. The team shooting feels no different than year 1 but the special weapon use is too much. Primaries need to go back to being the primary weapon used in a fight, not special weapons.
