You do realize the artifact power doesn't count right? It's only your gear score it takes into account for like Iron Banner and stuff so I don't know what the deal is?

No that's incorrect. The power boost you gain from the artificat applies in Iron banner. It always has. It's also going to apply in trials when it comes back next season. Something people are not happy about.
