In the last TWAB when mentioning the sniper rifle nerf you said it was partially due to players sitting in the back being safe. But Bungie, you’ve designed the game, especially endgame, this way. Bosses and even majors will stomp you into oblivion if you get near them. This rules out close range weaponry. How do you want us to play? In the GOS raid the finale boss has to be damaged at ranged.
I really think the stomp mechanic needs looked at. Instead of the stomp, why not an AOE attack like generating a ring of fire that radiates outward? Or lightning or void. This way we could jump over it with the right timing. This would still break up dps instead of sending us into orbit.
Thank you for reading. If you agree please upvote so Bungie see’s this.
Edit: I’d like to thank everyone for the likes and discussion. I thought maybe someone from Bungie would respond but I guess not. Thanks again.
In the last TWAB when mentioning the sniper rifle nerf you said it was partially due to players sitting in the back being safe. But Bungie, you’ve designed the game, especially endgame, this way.
Here's what I want to know.... WHO THE F'K CARES if we want to sit back and be safe? In end game like Raids we still have to assemble the team (there's always a noob or two we have to teach) and run through the activity. Most of the Raids take at least an hour so we are putting in the time and effort... I don't get why it's a big deal if we want to snipe a boss? Right now in GOS the boss is standing in a big pool of radiolarium so yeah... we snipe him .... and we still usually have to take 2 (or 3 if with noobs) damage phases to kill him. Let's see... Calus? We have to stand back on plates or don't do damage so yeah... snipe! Argos .... hmmm well he's a big Hydra floating in the air so how exactly would they expect us to kill him if not for long range weapons like.... yep SNIPERS Val Ca’uor ... he stomps like a maniac and has those stupid honing rockets so yeah... of course we want to snipe that shit if we aren't running Hunter / arcs staff strat. I could go on about the other raid bosses but it's pretty much the same thing.... big, giant bosses where the mechanics of the fight put all 6 players in close proximity to one another.... so Snipers make the most sense. I really just do not understand what the f'k they are thinking with their decisions? Their explanations make ZERO sense to me.

That's how a sniper rifle is supposed to be used though. You are not suppose to run and gun with a sniper rifle.
-
Bungie wants you to play the game... their way. Every other month it'll be their way again, and again.
-
If some players want to play sitting in the back and sniping what's so wrong with that?
-
Isn't the whole point of sniping specifically to sit in the back safe?

They’ve abandoned this forum until it cools off.

Bunp so Bungie sees

First they make mechanics like "stand in circle over here, shoot at boss over there". Then they penalize players for playing like that...
-
You can't teach a crippeled to walk again. Same goes for Bungie and trying to fix whats left of the game.
-
Yeah, please make it easy to beat all bosses. I want to run up and use all my sword ammo without any issues. No, just make it a one hit kill.
-
I need a vid of a full team trying to cqc the sanctified mind. Please?

Stomp mechanic isn’t even bad

We are glass cannons even tough I have maxed recovery now, I use to have 10/10 recovery 8/10 resilience and 4 x 5% defense against a element(example 5/5/10 or 20 or 10/10), my defenses went down a lot in Shadowkeep more reasons to stay far away. Funny how they want us to use less high range weapons and give swords another chance, I do not see that happen outside of the most casual content.

That's what I've been saying. Look at most end game encounters in this game. What happens when you run up to a boss and try to sword/shotgun/fusion rifle them? They stomp you into the next galaxy. In raids, it's pretty much a guaranteed death sentence. When they build encounters around sitting in one spot and damaging the boss who's way far away, what are you supposed to do? Kill him with a scout rifle? Look at the raids from D1. Atheon: sit on middle plate, shield against attack and shoot the crap out of him with ghally or a sniper. Crota: lol solo with sword. Oryx: this would actually work. We killed him with the Touch of Malice which was technically a scout rifle lol. But the other encounters in that raid (warpriest and golgoroth) what did we use? Triple tap snipers or Whisper. And what about good ol Aksis? Each encounter, we used snipers. Excluding the boss for some. Some liked to dark drinker him to death. Me? I always sniped him (and did most DPS that way). Long story short, we've ALWAYS been using snipers to defeat bosses in end game activities. Why is it all of a sudden the "wrong way to play" for Bungie? Boggles my mind.

Remember you can do it your own way if it's done just how I say.........
In the last TWAB when mentioning the sniper rifle nerf you said it was partially due to players sitting in the back being safe...
I don't think bungie understands the role of a sniper and how one should use a sniper rifle in combat.

This is such a massive derp on Bungie's part.

There was a time in D1 that snipers had a 5X damage multiplier on crits, now we're under 3X on after the nerfs. Hell I think the scout rifles had what snipers do now. They just slowly but surely keep removing the rewards for being skillful from the game. I have this funny feeling all this was really meant to do is make another weapon that's coming out next season not look so crappy to Izanagi's by comparison. The excuse they used just isn't really adding up, I can't remember the last time we had a sit way in the back free from worry of damage encounter.
-
You're first point is perfect: sniping is all about sitting in a sniper post. Why even include the gun class if they didnt want people to use it the way it'd meant to be used?
-
They want us to curate our loadouts for specific activites, which in their minds, will brings depth to the game. I can see this making sense on paper, and it does actually work in game. This, imo, is why scouts have always been kinda meh in pve. You know how we used to nuke the Gambit boss with melting point and a chaos reach? That's the entire idea behind these changes. As it is now, every fireteam has 1 Divinity, and 1 Izzy to kill everything at range. No one takes the risk with let's say Bastion, etc because why would you? If you take the time to make an armor build with the seasonal armor that focuses on short range dps and abilities, you truly do not need izzy or divinity. And imo it makes the game more interesting and action packed. Stack charged with light mods, pick up 4 orbs, stagger champion, hit champion with melting, some one uses a super and or 3 Bastions..hes dead.. It is a playstyle I particularly enjoy. I totally get what they're trying to do. Buut of course Bungie cant communicate to save the the solar system AND this will not bring depth because all the activities are tired, used and abused. Anyway, that's my take on things.

Edited by Phaarmz: 2/25/2020 2:39:08 PMAll the while these nerfs go on, its a smokescreen to cover up the complete lack of new content, weapons or armour each so called season. They force you to use a recycled weapon meta designed to coincide with eververse promotionsl sales.

Everybody bringing us GOS as if (These are fake numbers) your sniper used to do 50K damage and now it is doing 3k damage. You can STILL USE SNIPERS! You just have to get used that Izi will no longer hit like a mac truck. You can, however, go back to Whisper of the Worm and really won't notice a big difference. I know, you might have to do an extra damage phase on bosses! Oh the humanity!
-
I've been using snipers cos Banshee Bounty's. On 3 characters. Every day. If this doesn't inflate sniper use, I don't know..

Edited by RANGERX117: 2/25/2020 3:34:32 PMHow about the Boss shoots about some kind of smoke screen so you can't hit him in the head yet if you get close to him you can see him and hit him making shotguns, swords, etc viable?????? Put the smoke screen on a cool down timer so when it disappears precision shots can resume. Make the smoke do some kind of lingering damage....not too much....but enough so a player can't just stand there and blast away with all his shotty ammo in one damage phase.

I stopped using it anyway trophy hunter or nothing at all
