I understand why the perk was nerfed in the first place. NF/Luna's was way too easy to use and lethal on console. Easy weapons shouldn't be the best across the board. I get that. That was actually one of the main reasons why I personally thought it needed a nerf and didn't use mine after I got it when Forsaken launched.
However, the nerf made NF useless in PvE. It's still a really cool HC and I would love to have a reason to use it. I think it needs a middle ground kind of treatment. Let the perk activate on precision hits and buff precision damage on the SAME target. That way, we can chain headshots and do awesome damage in PvE without 2 tapping like madmen in PvP.
Edit: In addition to this, the perk would have to experience damage falloff in PvP so the gun isn't 3 tapping at 40+ meters.
Or the perk could just be balanced separately depending in the game mode, but whatever works. I just think such a cool gun shouldn't be useless in PvE. The nerf was honestly too hard.

Just undo the mag howl nerf but make it 68 68 73 in pvp and just buff it like crazy in pve.
-
It’s not supposed to be a PvE weapon. It’s still dumb in pvp, two head 1 body with 0 recoil, 180 recoil animation that doesn’t move, and 100% in air accuracy bc precision frame.
-
It made the game too easy? I can agree about the 180 -> 150 rpm nerf. However once they did that mag howl shouldn't have been touched, it still made the gun a 3 tap same as any 150 rpm, the only up was in certain circumstances (getting a kill with 2 headshots, meaning the enemy had to already be damaged then rushing to find another opponent within 3 seconds) it could 2 tap. Big deal, that small strength are what pinnacles should be. Plus the gun would have been useful for pve still. Toss on the range nerf and they're a shell of what they used to be

Man, forget Magnificent howl, roll both guns back to the way they were. The Lunas Howl & Not forgtten, should dominate within the range nerf. Bungie allows the Erientil to run rampant, but nerf everything else makes 0 sense.
-
I want the guns remove from the game there borring and without skill.. was nice to have them when they where needed to get the game where back on its feet but now there just anyoning
-
You can purchase .001% more damage for magnificent howl at the eververse store for $20. Totally worth it and the price goes up $5 after every purchase and we will tell you they stack but actually none of it does shit....Yours Truely...Bungie...
-
Need to just be a 2 like before but make it 140 rpm or 110 rpm
-
I don't care if it gets a PVP buff, I just want it to be a decent pve gun again

Ether make them 180s again or remove them from the game... 150s like Rose stomp all over them and I get rose for free... The recoil dosent match the gun what so ever if you disagree Tey playing with your sound off 1 game with Rose and 1 game with Luna and you will see what I'm talking about.

It needs something. Because it is obscenely useless right now. Everyone just goes for the 3 tap headshot no matter what now that it is a 150. There isn’t much you can do with the perk w/o it being broken and still being a 150 rpm. It should be a 180 again, then change the perk to grant a single extra damage bullet for 3 taps. And have a strict range fall off outside of its intended range to balance it.
-
Hell No I do not care it got what it deserved

Edited by BraddyBo: 1/19/2020 12:26:18 AMNf should either be a 180 or have the magnificent howl change reverted (but with lower crit multiplier). Leave luna as is.
-
Can Not Forgotten get a different perk than Lunas Howl? Its kind of stupid that LH is better than NF now due to range not mattering and LH having more stability.
-
Edited by Beastmaker129: 1/18/2020 9:20:40 PMNope. Im pretty good. Who cares.

Yet another case of pve VS PvP balancing issues.
-
My balance idea involved making Howl 3 shots to activate and having it retain through kills (keeping the headshot bonus) -It makes it useful in PvE again -It doesn't cheese 1v1s -multi kills become a "skill"
-
Friendly reminder that The Last Word kills with three crits in .53s and four body shots in .8s. Yet Bungie logic dictates Not Forgotten killing in .67s a problem.

I'd like a Mag Howl pve buff. I pretty much never took the gun off for a long time (I think I'm almost at 50k kills with mine lol) Thing used to delete majors like it was nobodies business and it was basically Malfeasance, but a legendary. If they reversed the nerf and gave it back the original damage would it really be that bad of an impact in PvP? Keep the change that turns the perk off after you land that 3rd shot so you couldn't 2-tap crit people. It would still be a 3 tap with the 3rd shot being a crit or body. The only real difference would be vs supers. The change I'd love the most is zen moment. Toss that garbage and give NF Rapid hit. Heck, undo all the nerfs only on NF and make it exotic.

Whats that? More content in the Eververse store? More silver??! Of course!!!!!!!!

Edited by an Ape with a d2 addiction: 1/18/2020 12:00:08 PMBiggest problem with mag howl was it enabling a consistent 3-tap on 180 RPM. That primary TTK had no realistic competition besides TLW and was always active without needing a kill first, which is usually how extra damage perks are balanced. The occasional 2-tap on an unlucky bystander was rare and not the main problem with the perk. I always felt they could've stopped at changing the RPM to 150 and leave mag howl damage as it was. Right now with that it'd only work as a really great range dropoff compensator without changing 1v1 TTKs. RPM change already fixed the TTK problem. If they really wanted to, making the extra damage work only on the same target that triggered it like you proposed would've fixed the rare secondary 2-tap. Right now mag howl has no real value in pve or pvp beside really marginally compensating for damage dropoff, especially after they fixed the bug where the bonus damage applied to the 1 shot before the actual mag howl shot. Then again I'm also happy they ditched pvp pinnacles all together. More balancing issues than they were worth. Part of me's hoping they just let sleeping dogs lie. NF's still my favorite energy 150 HC for the good range and zero recoil.

Luna's forgotten was meta for over 10 months straight, I think we'd be better off with nerfing them again than ever letting them creep into the meta more.
-
Anything that improves Magnificent Howl in PvP is asking for serious problems.
-
I would like the perk restored. Keep them at 150 rpm and bring back the original perk. The 2 taps were rare, especially in high level game play. I really only got them in QP occasionally. And in higher levels of comp people knew to avoid the setup for them.

The guns should be deleted. As long as they exist, they stand for no balance and the inability to even attempt it without people going livid
