Sorry if there is already a topic like this, I couldn't find anything post shadowkeep.
I'm finally at the point where I can start working on character builds. Coming from RPG's I'm no stranger to the concept of "soft caps" when it comes to stats. Does destiny 2 character stats have a soft cap? For example, am I getting less bang for my buck by bringing one stat from 7 -> 10 rather than bringing 3 other stats up by 1?
Just looking for some character stat building advice from some vets.
Thank you :)

All the stats will show the benefit of upgrading it in the stat description. For instance for the grenade (discipline) you could be at tier 5 (50-59) and have a grenade recovery time of 49 seconds. It also shows you what the recovery time would be if you get it to tier 6. You have to keep in mind that only increments of 10 matter (10,20,30...) so if you have 55 in a stat thats 5 wasted points.

All stat tiers (1-10) give you a bonus in the corresponding stat but for some stats the bonus you get the higher you go becomes less, not by a lot though. There is one stat that is essentially useless after 6 and that stat is Resilience. Pretty much anything after 6 Resilience, unless your a Titan, is useless and you end up wasting points. Aztecross Gaming has a video on his Youtube channel that shows off all cooldown rates at all tiers.
