I played this game a few months ago with the disc and had no problems then. I take very good care of my discs. Now months later I can't play the game as my xbox doesn't recognize it. It isn't the disc drive as I am still able to play GTA V which I have only on disc. I also started playing Doom again recently. As of this post I'm currently attempting to download the free trial, hoping I can at least get to play one last time. Anyway, for some reason, my consol won't recognize this specific disc, which has had good, clean runs on this xbox one.

Have you tried to clean the disc, using a lint free lens clearer type cloth move from the center straight to the outside (in a straight line) NOT circle movement. Destiny 1 discs should be cheap to get from a place that sells them , as used discs usually have a guarantee that they work or they replace it. I still use my Xbox 360 (dvd) and Xbox 1 (bluray) Destiny 1 disc every week.

The game I'm having issues with is Destiny 1. I have tried taking out and plugging back in that game, hard reset my Xbox One, plugging in the game again, attempted to delete and re-download(to no avail), did a disc cleaning and repair, and even bought another copy of Destiny. Every time I plug either disc in, the driver tries to read it, then stops. My driver is able to play other games and movies I have on disc. The game still works as I have just tried the trial version which has brought me back to my old saved profile. But for some unknown reason, my console will not recognize Destiny as a game and won't run it otherwise. What is going on here?

If this is for D2 it may be due to the base game being free to play and the game licence now being digital only. Delete and reinstall from your systems store. Do not worry about save data as that is on Bungie servers.

Then I suggest you get a different disc.

It's either a drive issue, or a disc issue. Either way, there isn't much Bungie or we in the help forum can do for you. You should be able to download the New Light version and then use any DLC you purchased digitally.
