Honestly i was looking at Destiny 1 Character creation and even the Human Female's look pretty.. Everything just looks better compared to Destiny 2's dry bone faces.
If Bungie ever allows you to change your characters appearance again i hope they work on this.
Also maybe allowing helmet off toggle in Strikes/PVE only related content would be good?

For realz - how many years later and still bugs me. Bungie are you listening? Do somethimg about it. Went onto D1 just for fun tonight and wow took like 10 screen shots and posted on clan chat. The faces and skin tone are so much better on D1 it has somehow better resolution? But my beautiful sliver blue awoken skin on my warlock in D1 has been puke green on D2 and her eyes are just weird. All my charactersand everyones gear in the tower was just popping. Then back to D2 and ugh the graphics. I wish they would do something about it.
-
Lighting and colors. D2's graphics overall just look faded and washed out. They aren't appealing to the eye. D1 had much more vivid lighting and tones. It highlighted the details in characters and armor.

It's the color and texture scheme I think. D1 had darker and more realist style, whereas D2 used brighter/bolder colors that seem a bit more 'animated'. I'm used to it by now, but I do remember first getting into D2 and thinking it looked just a little bit more cartoon-ish
-
Yeah I noticed on the very beginning of D2. My characters were suddenly ugly.
-
My hunter and warlock looked better in D1, my titan looks the same. The lighting is what ruined them in D2. It looks as if they changed the bodies too, my hunter look like she gained a few pounds.
-
Yup. My female hunter looks terrible in D2. In D1 she looks great.

Better question, why does character creation suck with literally no improvements from D1?
-
They’re the same, literally nothing changed between D1/ D2 character creation.
-
It's not. They're identical.
-
They’re the exact same besides the background
-
Aren't they exactly the same?
-
Why not in pvp the helmets off? What kind of difference would that make?
-
Edited by Muka Gatals: 1/7/2020 12:42:56 AMLegit question.. Why D2 Titan’s shoulder pads are ugly like hell?? Looks weak paper thin Why warlock skinny like hell?? Hunter is the best of the ugliest. But many times D2 Hunter’s head is too big.
-
I miss the different unique gender poses in the inventory for each class. Now the only ones with a noticeable difference are Hunters. Just another part of D1 that still proves it's the better game.
-
Because the background for the creator in D1 is black. D2 is white. Different backgrounds can have different effects on an identical object. Or not. I don't know.
-
Easy answer? They had to try being a new game
-
Edited by GalaxySpider: 1/6/2020 8:12:22 PMIt's the lighting. The faces are nearly identical in geometry. In fact, the textures for the skin even have higher resoultions and more detail. The light which shines on the character in the editor and character screen is just super bright and somehow out of contrast for some reason. And yes, it looks weird.
-
Optimization. They sacrificed geometry and texture detail so the game could run better. Not sure if it was worth it but that’s what it is.

-
The customization options are the exact same. And why would we take out helmets off in combat?
-
Edited by Vale: 1/6/2020 3:27:43 AMIf I could I'd replace in the options where you can toggle your helmet on or off with the option to edit your face... I'd add 2x more face options then I'd go over to your equipped helmet and add a toggle option for helmet always on, always off and off in non combat areas... Then on the class item I'd add on, off or off in none combat areas so if your a hunter you could have your hood down and your helmet on your your helmet off and your hood up.
-
I've noticed this too. My mains face looks alot more gaunt in D2 than D1. Just figured it had something to do with running D2 on a 4k screen with hdr on.

Lighting.
