”Sometimes all something needs is a little push...”Dr. Sophob sat in the middle of the room, teaching his students. The sunlit room shown down upon him, making him seem like a majestic being. Luther knew better. The bell in the corner of the room rang, and the Doctor spent no time escorting his students out. Luther and Anna walked out unnoticed.
”I just don’t understand why you hate him so much...”Anna clutched her books in her arms as she marched down the hallway next to Luther.
”Something is off with him. I just can’t put my finger on it...plus he’s a self absorbed asshole who threatens his students.”Luther carries his books in his backpack over his shoulder.
”Yeah fair point, but I think he’s just trying to help. We have a long way to go before we reach his level of expertise, and he’s just trying to speed up the process.”
”Maybe.”
The two reached their dorm and entered, the door opening automatically. It was a mess, papers strewn everywhere and equipment sat in every space on available desks. Luther sat down at his and began writing down his thoughts.
‘Day 935. Nothing out of the ordinary happened today. It’s been quiet and frustrating, as I just can’t seem to figure this out. I feel like we just need one ingredient for it, but I don’t know what it is-‘
He slammed his fist down in frustration, shaking his desk. Anna looked up for a moment and continued her own writing.
‘He’s getting worse. Angrier and angrier every single day. I want to help him, but I don’t know how. All he wants is to complete this project. It’s understandable, but I don’t want him to hurt himself over it. I’ll see if I convince him to take a break tomorrow, he deserves it. He’s more than just my friend, he’s my-‘
She blushes.
Both of them close their journals and crawl into their separate beds, turning out the lights as they do so.
“Gnight Luther.”
“Gnight Anna.”

In a separate corner of the campus, Dr Sophob sat at his own desk experimenting. Focusing, he pulled a small knife out of his pocket and set it down. He moved all of the required materials into position. Mint, silver, and Z13. He activated the laser and picked up the knife, pricking his finger with it. A small drop of golden blood dripped onto the platter under the microscope, and the entire room began to shine with a brilliant golden light.
“Yes yes yes...” His voice was deep and hoarse, as if he talked for years and years and years without ever stopping.
The bright light finally faded out, and before him lay the ashes of the plant.
“Just one last thing...”
