Previously in Broken Honor…
Aeowin’s body began shrinking as she grew orange fur all over her body. Her clothes melted into her skin and her nose grew outward. Soon, she disappeared behind Lyra and Clyde entirely. A fox jumped over the pair’s shoulders and pounced on Jain while Lyra activated her own affinity and simply phased through the rope holding her. While Jain struggled against Aeowin, Lyra sneak attacked the man in black! She stole a dagger out of his boot and began dueling him, one on one. Feu Pur dashed past Jain, now struggling with a seven-foot-tall cave bear. She engaged the man with the green vial with a fireball, and thus, the last pair began to fight!
All this unravelled within the span of a few seconds. Rysko’s breath was taken away by the battles. He, Arte, and Ichiro stood, dumbfounded, as the struggle for power over their future took place before their very eyes….
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jain groaned in pain as Aeowin slammed a massive paw in his side, sending him stumbling away for a split second. The bear roared as Jain took his opportunity and raised his hands, lightning sparking up and jumping to the bear, frying her fur slightly and stunning her for a second. Lyra was phasing through each of the man in black’s attacks, who was attempting to strike her with a rapier he had drawn from under his cloak. However, in Rysko’s eyes, time seemed to slow as Feu Pur lobbed a fireball at the man with the green vial. He froze, eyes wide as the man hurled the vial into the fireball, exploding it instantly and causing a much larger explosion than it would’ve normally, almost ten times the size. The hairs on Rysko’s face singed from the heat as the fireball engulfed the six combatants.
As the flames died out, Rysko could see again. He cried out and fell to his knees from what he saw. Feu Pur… Feu Pur had taken the worst of the flames. She was rolling on the ground, screaming in pain. Flames licked all over her body, consuming her like a devouring parasite. Aeowin, now back in her elfish form, struggled to her feet, burns covering her arms. Lyra had phased through the blast, panting slightly and pausing her duel. All three villains were fine, with only the man who had thrown the vial showing any signs of being injured at all. Clyde was… less fortunate. Arte’s father lay perfectly still, unmoving, as his skin slowly drifted away, being nothing but ash…
Arte’s face went utterly pale as she witnessed her father get incinerated before her very eyes. She choked up as tears fell freely down her cheeks. “D-Dad…?”
The man in black cackled and stepped forward. “Well, that was certainly something, I must say! Here, in return for such devastating power, I shall give you a gift. You already know of Jain, he with lightning. The man that countered your flames so well calls himself Aku. And I?” He chuckled softly. “I am your promised destruction, Cmirg!” He raised a hand and clenched his fist, and suddenly, nobody in the courtyard could stand save for the three villains. They all fell to their knees, feeling their weight increase tenfold as gravity’s draw on them seemed to multiply. “Bow and live, or rise and perish!”
Rysko looked to either side of him, his face utterly pale with fear. Ichiro looked back at him with equal fear, but Arte looked forward, furious at Cmirg for the death of her father. She screamed out, pouring out her pain and anguish, “I’ll kill you, you monster! You hear me?! You’re dead!!”
Rysko watched in horror as Lyra and Aeowin, Arte and Ichiro’s mothers, fought desperately against Cmirg, Jain, and Aku. They were forced to give them ground, conceding bout after bout as first Lyra was fried in the side by Jain, then Aeowin screamed as a vial of acid broke on her arm, then the both of them were pushed back, sliding across the ground as Cmirg extended his hand. The three villains stopped their advance and watched, bemused, as Lyra and Aeowin ran to Ichiro, Arte, and Rysko. Aeowin pulled Arte and Rysko to their feet while Lyra took her of her own son. Aeowin looked Rysko in his eyes, her face deadly serious. “You need to get out of here while you can. We’ll cover your escape, just run and don’t look back!” She pushed them towards the back of the courtyard, back towards the school as she and Lyra turned to face the villains again.
Rysko grabbed Arte’s hand and ran, hoping that Ichiro would follow suit, which he soon did. Their feet thundered against the hard ground as they ran as fast as their legs could carry them, listening to the sounds of heated combat behind them. A vial exploded behind them, and a vast fog cloud filled the courtyard, cutting off Rysko and Arte from everyone else. Arte ran up to Rysko’s side and panted, slightly out of breath, looking around. “What… What happened?”
Rysko held her hand tightly and glanced around, panicked. “A fog cloud… We need to get out of here, Arte, come on!” He dragged her forward again, running towards the shadow of the school looming through the gray.
As they ran inside, lightning arced behind them and struck the door frame, barely missing them. Jain’s voice rang out through the fog as they jumped with fright. “Come on, little ones, I won’t miss a second time!” Rysko and Arte ran inside, terrified for their lives as they heard the crackling footsteps of the crazed man behind them, threatening them with his lightning arcing over their heads.
