Arms Dealer 900 Strike - Leviathan's Breath

What. The hell. Is wrong with you? How is it so insanely difficult for you, Bungie, to actually create fun things? Why are you only able to make infuriatingly stupid things from rehashed material? It was quite the task, already, just to get to the actual boss fight of the strike. But then... You literally cannot stop running. You NEVER get a chance to actually aim and fire your weapon. You have to constantly sprint, jump, throw grenades and hip-fire everything. That was the single stupidest f***ing thing you have ever created and then had the audacity to call it a "quest." And for what? To make the one "updated" strike take even longer? You're so transparent with how you lazily pad things out. I was actually looking forward to doing this and getting the weapon. I got it but it was just a terrible experience. I was going to help my friends who were going after the bow get it later but I will never do that boss fight again. Holy sh*t, you're just awful at this.

This "strike" is disgusting. I was fine with everything up to the final boss arena, then it got crazy. I would argue that this is even worse than the Ordeal Nightfall version of the same strike. There are so many modifiers that make it way more difficult and then ON TOP OF THAT, the boss encounter has these added mechanics to make your life miserable. Orbital strikes on your character, the boss having an insane amount of health and firepower, and then the long respawn countdown makes this strike insanely difficult, almost impossible to do with random blueberries. This was probably the most difficult mission I ever played in the game. I got so frustrated the first time after wiping 5 times (almost beat it one time) that I had to quit out of the game. The second attempt took me and a couple of other randoms 3 tries to complete (Shoutout to Vel'thia and xJxRx3x RL for helping me out). There's nothing more frustrating than getting the boss down to 1/8 his life bar and then you and your teammates wipe because he one-shots you, the Gladiator you didn't see backstabs you, or you get swarmed by dogs while being blinded by flashbang missiles from the orange-bar Colossus. Yes, I know you can successfully solo this mission. I've seen some of the videos. I'm not a gamer god so I don't have the skills to do that. I think the whole mission is some kind of fever dream of Banshee-44's "exploits" during the Red War, but if Brachus Zahn was really this powerful, he should be running the Cabal.

  • im power level 970 and this strike is just ridiculous, gladiators are constantly trying to get you from behind, everything is trying to shoot you at once, you cant sit still for less than 2 seconds or else youll get hit with a laser and rocket, the boss has so much health, etc. you cant do it.

  • It was hard but not impossible... but dang it was HARD!!! MY POINT OF CONTENTION with D2 is the Grind times 3... I think it’s bulls*** and too much... there are few simple quests in the game (concerning season pass) so to have to run it 3 times is rediculous...

  • I'm with the opening poster here. It's only the boss fight that's the issue here, the rest of the strike is as you'd expect - same as normal but with stronger enemies. But the boss fight is just OTT ridiculous. I don't mind a challenging final boss fight with a different mechanic that you have to figure out and then you can make decent progress to beating him. But there was no strategy immediately apparent when thrust into this boss fight, apart from running around like a headless chicken and hoping to goodness somebody managed to stay alive. We managed to do it second attempt - thankfully - but more through dumb luck than any sort of conscious strategy. It's like Bungie just chucked everything including the kitchen sink into this one. Hey, not just a powerful boss, lets throw a million red bars of all types, plus some yellow bars, plus constant rockets in case anybody stands still for more than a second. And on top of all that, it's bloody galling to be killed by a falling Cabal cocoon. Normally, it might be quite funny, but when it puts in jeopardy all the sweat your team's done on the boss for the past 5 minutes it just sucks. I love Destiny, but this is a miss by Bungie in my opinion.

  • This strike is way more difficult than it has any right to be mostly due to the sheer number of adds in the boss room. I spend the entire time clearing adds and they respawn as fast as I can kill them. If there weren't any gladiators or collosus enemies, it would probably be challenging, but doable. Especially since Gladiators have a tendency to sneak up behind players, and you don't get radar for the strike

  • I gave up trying to dps the boss since... you know you can't stand still. After 5 infuriating wipes, such as being 1 shotted by boss on last phase, random cabal drop pods crushing me with no warning and other bs, I figured out I was better off just keeping ads off my teammate so they could focus dps the boss. Bottom tree nightstalker worked great for group invisibility support. This fight was frustrating, hard and not fun in the least. And this is coming from a souls fan.. I know first off that hard can = fun, if done right. Every wipe essentially boiled down to luck of the draw and didnt feel as if any progress was made to any subsequent attempt.

  • I agree with OP. This was just frustrating, getting to the boss iteself was hard enough, but this shield around the boss and getting the sphere is just nearly impossible with all these enemies in the end fight. I stopped playing Destiny 2. This was just more I could handle and it was anything but fun. If anything, 900+ is too low. It should recommend 950+.

      • The Arms Dealer strike is already annoying, if you don’t burn down the boss at the beginning it’s just a frustrating mess of a boss fight. It really makes me wonder what the people who love the design of these activities are into when they defend it. The fact that someone actually likes this kind of thing just baffles me. And I get you... calling these lists of generic busy work “quests” is an insult to the word. Quests should be fulfilling experiences, not just regurgitated content we’ve run through hundreds of times already. We know they can do it, we’ve played D1 and we’ve seen better examples for Whisper and Outbreak, but the rest are just completely underwhelming, and worse, very frustrating.

      • My personal opinion here. I thought that strike was great. I enjoy content that isn’t so easy that I can’t breeze through it. I wish even the normal story missions were harder like the days of playing through the original Halo trilogy on legendary. Once again my opinion, but games feel too easy anymore. I grew up in the days of the 80’s arcades when games were hard as to get people to feed the machine quarters. Games these days have lost their challenge. Not blasting your opinion. To each their own. Now get off my lawn!! :P

        • It certainly wasn’t an easy strike, but I don’t feel it was particularly unfair either. I went into the strike with a random match-made group, none of us using microphones to communicate. While we each died at least a few times (I believe I died perhaps four or five times throughout the strike) with at least two instances in which one of the group had to run around avoiding death until the others were able to respawn, we made it through without a full wipe. Sometimes you just have to play very cautiously and not rush to finish a given encounter at the speed you aim for during a normal strike. (΄◉◞౪◟◉`)

              • I didn’t even know it was a higher difficulty level. I’m so used to melting the boss right after the elevated. I used my nova bomb and all my heavy and barely took an eighth if his health away. Was thinking “well this is strange, I haven’t had to actually fight him I god knows how long”. Took a minute, but we got him.

              • I didn't find it that fun either. more rage, controller throwing than anything. \this should not be advertised at 900 at all, and I think thats were all the issues on this are coning from. Most people that are saying thats its not that had are close to max PL, with izanagis, recluse at least. Any clip under 945 and your going to have a hard time. I'd rather not see any more of this type of boss fight in the future. I;m honestly thankful that warframe has a new mainline update

                  • I agree. This boss fight is the worst thing i've seen in this game. i spent about an hour and a half trying this boss fight with a few differant random matchmaking crews and got close a couple times. within 1 shot once but yet to no avail. Still haven't beaten it. Guess I'll try again tomorrow.

Kind of agree with this guy. There's a huge canyon line between something being fun and something being just frustratingly annoying to enjoy even a single portion of it. The last part was just way way way way way too much. But it took like 2-3 tries for us to do it. It was hard but not so difficult as some raids that I've done 8-10 tries for some bosses. The idea was to just keep all three people alive, kill the cabal axe wielding guy first, one or two need to have Jotunn it one shots the commanders. For the colossus just use a rocket. As soon as a rocket signal is on you, you just side step it AND THEN SHOOT. First thing to do is to side step them. The signal actually doesn't cause any damage and it gives you like 8 seconds to run away from it. As soon as someone dies in a hot region , the remaining two just keep running around until he can self resurrect himself after 30 seconds. You have to Stay alive. It can take like 20-30 minutes to kill the boss but you just gotta stay alive.

                      • It was really fun dying while dunking the solar orb at the boss only to be res'd just to take flame damage AND laser damage, and then get mauled by a dog 2 seconds later. 🤦🏾‍♀️ I know those ransoms hated me.

You can see the disparity among players in the comments for these types of things. This is something that Bungie either doesn’t get, or doesn’t care to address. Was the strike hard? Yes. Should getting an exotic be quick and easy? No. Should it be fun? Yes. People define fun differently. This game has very different kinds of activities and thus essentially encompasses multiple very different genres. This is a prime example of why there should be multiple paths of progression/acquisition for many things. Options that balance challenge and time investment against amount of rewards or how quickly you can acquire something. Want something now? Do the super hard or timed version and it’s yours. Don’t mind waiting a bit? Do an easier version three times, once with each elemental since that rotates weekly, and it’s yours in three weeks. Look at quests like Whisper/Zero Hour. If they had non-timed versions with matchmaking that had rotating elemental singes, the above example could be an alternate version of how to get it. Raids. If there was a non-mechanic heavy version that was like a long strike with multiple bosses or like The Menagerie/Vex Offensive that rewarded only a SINGLE reward per week, I think that would be an appropriate balance against the regular version being much more difficult and players getting like 4 rewards per week. They make the game a chore at times for many players by not acknowledging this disparity and that their game is so vastly different from one activity to the next. So much so that it could be called an inconsistent experience. Whether they want to admit it or not, they have a wide variety of different types of gamers here. Ignoring that will only continue to polarize the community and cause resentment. They only hurt the game by not acknowledging and addressing that fact.

                          • Wow... Suddenly, a lot of attention. I love how so many still love using the "git gud" response. It has nothing to do with that. The strike was tough, not hard, but tough. Honestly, a fair challenge all the way up to the boss encounter. It's literally just the boss encounter I have a huge problem with. The constant running was unnecessary. There were already tons of ads to clear, which kept you on your toes throughout the encounter because of their one-hit melee kill capability, but to add the incoming missiles non-stop was absolutely overkill. That. Just that. If the missile thing hadn't been involved, I would have just found it a tough challenge. Aggravating but fine. Beyond the missiles never stopping, I still have to complain about the total lack of originality. Remember after "Taken King" how new areas would be found and new secrets discovered in old locations? What does D2 have again? Whisper and Zero Hour? This game is just way, way lazier and far more padded-out than D1 was after TK. This was just another example of it. Thank the gods that games like "The Outer Worlds," "DOOM Eternal" and "Cyberpunk 2077" are coming out before too long. Where players can actually go do new things and find secrets and actually build a character their own way instead of only repeating the same three things week after week after week to, maybe, improve their power level. The game is trash. Most of the community is trash. You should all be wanting better of this game and its company but you're complacent with the same thing over and over again that you don't see a way out of this money pit. I want them to be better. To do better. They won't because they won't spend the time and money to actually make a better game. I'm out. I know a lot of people who got out way earlier and never came back even after it went free. D2 will be an occasional thing to play going forward. No more money pit. Bye, Felicia.

                            • lol no kidding. A 900 strike that’s harder than a 950 nightfall. WTF?! Really it’s not too bad until the Boss, but that Boss encounter feels like huge difficulty spike. So annoying. We wiped so many times I was getting bored. I mentioned that there is no way the Exotic is worth it. Having used the Bow, I can guarantee it is not worth the frustration. Damage is disappointing.
