The Darkness expects us to simply drop the Light and join them. However, I don't see the corrupted Guardians that join it to become that much stronger. They may get new and strange powers, but to be much stronger than a lightbearer of equal experience is doubtful.
If anything though, I'm expecting humanity to utilize both Light and Dark and use it to combat the Pyramid ships. Light is implied to be weak but fruitful, while darkness is strong but unstable. A specific blend of both powers will end up making us far stronger than any Guardian wielding just one or the other, and those are going to be the ones deciding the ultimate fight.
I'm pretty sure D3 will end with both the Darkness and the Traveler being destroyed in the ensuing war.

It just wouldn’t make sense. Besides, it’s never a good idea to attempt to use the power of your enemy in that way. v [spoiler]Borromir tried to use the One Ring to use against its maker. And now Borromir is dead.[/spoiler] We’re fighting the Darkness because it threatens humanity severely. Why the heck would we wield it? Seems a little contradicting.

We've already been using it though. We used Hive swords against Crota and his brood, invaded Oryx's throne world using his son's death essence, and in Shadowkeep we used Hive magic in an attempt to protect us from the pyramid ship's influence. We've even used dark weapons before such as Whisper, Touch of Malice, Necrochasm, Bad Juju, and Thorn. To say our Guardians shouldn't use it because it's what we're fighting against is a fallacy at this point. Just light vs. dark will yield a stalemate at the very most, and we don't have the numbers or power to combat the pyramid ships as is. If anything, it makes all the more sense to use their weapons against them because it gives us insight on their strength and what they're weak to. Since we already know it's possible to utilize their weapons against them and they are affected by it, that's likely how we're going to combat the darkness. Now of course we shouldn't be going from 0-100 with this. Guardians should explore it but with cautious and incremental usage until we find a happy medium.

Those just objects that have a little of that power in them that are pretty much harmless to us. I meant becoming vessels of Darkness like the Black Heart and Oryx just like we are currently vessels of Light. And those tools don’t necessarily “define” us as Guardians. Probably doesn’t make sense, was just stating my opinion lol.

In that case yeah, we shouldn't be become Darkbearers because we probably wouldn't really benefit from it in the long run anyways. The most we should do is reverse engineer their tech and try to keep their powers within sight but out of reach.
