Naa. What incentive would there be to run a different weapon? If my recluse can come in all 3 elements, or my trust with rampage and dragonfly, i really wouldnt need a reason to swap to, say my breath of dragon sub.
Plus it gives value to hardlight and borealis

Just remove the obnoxious and unnecessary -blam!-ing screenshaking of Hardlight and BOOM it will retain that imaginary "value" you speak of by becoming a 100% better weapon over-all.

It will give a large portion of the player base diversity. People who like recluse are going to use recluse regardless. But a lot of people like using different weapons for different activities, and changing the element makes that easier. Say you want to use vouchsafe for the throwing knife quest. You also want to get crucible bounties done. There's one for arc, one for void, one for solar. This is why I would want it. But I'm also not going to shout it from the rooftop either. No one listens anyway lol

While it gives players diversity in terms of being able to use their preferred weapons, it lowers the need to grind other weapons, which is the point of a looter shooter. Perks, stats and elements are all things that give reason to grind a weapon. While i understand pushing for player choice, i have to disagree with using that as a reason to bring back the ability to change a guns element. Games have their own parameters and while bungie had allowed it in year 1, removing it to give value to other weapons is fair imo.

We see how well that went, especially with lunas and whisper before their nerfs :/ Elements give that extra layer of value.

Just like pokemon in a sense. Dont see that impeding much on player choice. Not to mention this is a looter game and as such weapons with have certain attributes to separate it from others.
