Hey, if people are desperate for attention and validation that they need to purchase a $10-$20 skin, bundle, emote, or whatever else in a video game to feel good, might as well make money, right?
Does it give Bungie the moral high ground? Nope. Is it sad that they would resort to that given Bungie's illustrious history of creating some of gaming's most treasured gems? Yes.
But that's business. And business, as they say, is booming.

Free to start, not to progress. If it's free, then why am I being told I need to purchase Shadowkeep to go into Salvation? If it's free, why does it say I need to purchase Season of the Undying to play Vex Offensive? Why can't I play past the first Shadowkeep mission if the game is free? Doesn't sound so free to me. Destiny is one of, if not, the most heavily monetized live service games I've ever seen. MTX, Expansions, Battle Pass. I'm sure if Bungie figures out a system to monetize weapon rolls, they'd gladly do it. I understand nothing is free. But god damn. Its like buying each individual piece of a Lego sculpture at this point 😂

in compliance with the issue at hand which is the complaining about eververse prices for a majority free game now. if you want to play the new content in each season you can opt-it for 10$ USD that's less than what the emotes somebody here is complaining about. now I'll have you know Bungie as a studio has over 100 employs that make this FREE game enjoyable to both people who play it for FREE and the people who pay them for this new content they more likely spent many nights working on. this cry out for not having a certain amount to SPEND in a FREE game is GREEDY SELFISH & CHILDISH. Not to mention you can EARN a majority of these items in-game without spending a penny. also whoever said they can't progress your character in this game without buying into the new campaigns, I am forever sorry you represent my player base to be so braindead and so ill-informed about a game mechanic it actually HURTS. To know there are ppl begging for more free things than they deserve is saddening.

I'm all for microtransactions in a free game. But when the MTX items are generally agreed to have had more time and detail put into them, not to mention Bungie charging a premium for new content, it can lead to disgruntling some of the fanbase. People like to earn cool looking items. D2 would rather see us earning nasty rust bucket armor and charging a couple extra dollars to look halfway decent in a fantasy realm on top of charging us full price to proceed with the yearly campaign. And no. I can't properly progress as a free player. Free players don't get access to raids other than Leviathan unless they've previously purchased Forsaken for example. As a former Y1 player, I can assure you that none of the gear from that raid is worth having. It wasn't even worth having in Y1 sans the pulse rifle during the PvP teamshot meta. F2P players miss out on all the Y2 raid mods, the raid exotics, and some exotic quests. So they're not properly progressing. The undying mod slots are useless to me as I can't access the mods since I haven't bought into Y3. But I sure can raise that arbitrary power level that has never meant anything in the history of Destiny and choose a few perks that might help me reload my gun slightly faster or hold a few extra bullets. But yeah. Totally don't understand progression. I'll just sit over here with my pinnacles and my god rolled 900 soft cap Light Y2 armor while I slowly grind to 950 Light because there's no real point to waste the resources.
