I would see the comparison to Savathûn, but there’s a very noticeable difference. Everything Savathûn does aims to strengthen her foothold in the solar system and to bring her closer to victory. The Darkness does not actually care. The Pyramid is merely a conduit for it to you with us as it approaches the Solar System, openly flaunting it’s powers. As to god modding, we’re immortal space wizards serving a giant orb. It stands to reason we’d need a bigger bogeyman with the Traveler seemingly having awoken. Savathûn is deceptive. The Darkness is manipulative. Savathûn does not believe power is the end all solution, as proven by everything she does. The Darkness is the embodiment of power in this universe, the Unveiling implying it has wiped the Universe clean of life many times before. Savathûn wishes to guarantee her own survival by finding a way to perpetually feeding her worm, the Darkness wants to exterminate all life as it has before.

  • But does the darkness destroy all life, or just the weakest while letting the strong survive?

  • <The problem is that when it fights you, you're pretty much done. Unless you do it in for good, then it'll keep coming back. It's "destroy all life except those under me" under the guise of "only the strong can survive".>

  • The problem is you can't kill darkness. It is just like the light. It doesn't just stop existing because we will it to. It finds a way(sorry for using that stupid Speaker line). We don't have much of a choice, and I don't think the darkness would just throw away us like nothing as we are essentially it would seem what they want. They want the strong, and we are exactly that. Coming to us only to kill us would be a wasted potential. They have also exhibited the ability to control our ghost, which I am gonna guess is not something mechanical, but is the darkness controlling the light to bend to their whim. They are an odd bunch to be sure, but a necessary ally in my honest opinion. But I'm no lore guy, that's just my interpretation of the whole thing by what I can gather.

  • <I'm not talking about the powers, I'm talking about the entities behind it. The Gardener, responsible for bringing Light into our cursed existence, has already been shown to be in pain and more. The Winnower, responsible for the Darkness, can most likely die as well. I'm not sure their deaths would affect their patron abilities that much unless one were to kick the bucket and turn the balance from 1-1 to 3-1.>

  • Makes sense. I just kind of wonder which will be the common enemy first.

Savathûn most definitely. Especially if we, for instance, break the Dreaming City curse and stop her gaining access to the Distributary, foiling her current main plan to achieve a kill battery. How would we do this you ask? Only by destroying Savathûn’s most valuable military asset, currently assisting and safeguarding her daughter in her task. Quria, the all too important Vex Mind. If we could somehow locate and strike at it before she has a chance to stop us, we could deal a crippling blow that might very well force her to confront us more openly out of desperation. It only makes sense to take her off the table before Destiny 3, considering her build up so far in Destiny 2 in game.

  • % You seem pretty confident in taking out a deceptive witch queen who we have yet to see. Her or her taken Vex hydra. %

  • Indeed. If we throw a wrench in her plans, chances are she would have no choice. Remember, Quria is her Queen on the chessboard.

% If anything Quria is in some safeguard, being watched by Savathun on a 24/7 basis. I'll never understand why people believe Quria will be such an easy target. The thing is literally probably right under Savathun's throne chair while she sits and watches from above. %

  • Because Quria is currently occupied with the Dreaming City cycle, considering that the only detail we may be able to trust from Truth to Power is that Quria is assisting Dul Incaru
