After we all paid for it from the very beginning.
-
That’s how the market works
-
nah, thats how you screw over your most devoted players. make them pay 100+ $ for the game, then decide to make it free and still charge for "content".
-
Old products lose value thats how it works
-
sure, lose value, yes. to become completely free, no.
-
It was Bungie’s own decision to do so, making it free would bring in way more people and in their minds be more profitable in the future because they would get people interested for free and then they’ll most likely spend money on dlc and stuff later. Are you really that upset that 2 years later the first year is free?
-
Not after 2 years. It’s not an old product, it wasn’t a very good product to start off with. But it got a lot better starting at warmind. As an example gta 5 was $60 for what 9 years?

Edited by GifuBound: 10/14/2019 10:31:35 PMThat’s because rockstar knew people were still willing to pay that price, the demand was still high. This is simple capitalism. The demand to purchase D2 and the first 2 expansions was very low, so bungie decided that in the long run it would be more profitable if they enticed people with a free product, get them hooked and they’ll buy future dlc. Besides, it grew the playerbase which is good for everyone

Edited by turtle50001: 10/14/2019 10:37:07 PMI know all of that. I was contradicting your “old product loses value”. D2 isn’t an old product. It just wasn’t a very good product at launch.

Well usually that’s what happens in gaming and just technology in general

Rofl. I wonder why Anthem isn’t F2P yet.
Its cause they’ll NEVER be able to make money of it.
At least it isn’t Anthem bad yet.
