You make it sound like you cannot equip the weapon of your choice. This system is great, I cant wait till next season when other weapons will be preferable. This season its hand cannons, auto's and SMGs. Next season it will be other weapons, There is nothing dictating what weapons you need to use, they are suggested to get bonuses against certain enemies if you have the mods unlocked and equipped, next season it will be other weapons.
