Remember when people taught you the raid?

I wish the raid community was like in Destiny 1. I can't stand these raid posts, " KWTD have mountaintop and recluse, have every exotic, run this subclass, do a finisher on everything, have every single weapon in the game, use them all at once, wear every armor set at the same time and have all stats 100 on each piece" I just want to do raids ! • I have run VoG, Crota, Kings Fall, and Rise of Iron raids quit a lot. And for the most part, they were fun. Rise of Iron raid was okay but I think that is where the mechanic increase started. The raids in D2 just are not fun. They are technically impressive but they are designed for the no-life streamer. Too many mechanics and too complicated. They just aren't fun. I want to have fun but Destiny is more work now than it has ever been.

  • I seen someone charging for the final cp for GoS the other day smh. That’s where we’re at now ugh lol Thankfully nobody tried this crap earlier. Imagine trying to get CE done if everyone that could run sword started charging for it.

    • I remember when raids were cool. Now they are just dead first 24 hour challenges that won't go away.

    • Remember when raids were fun and not mechanic heavy with super limited revives and mechanics designed to make the entire team fail if one person is a noob? Yeah. That's why raid LFG has gotten so bad. Add on top of that the lack of gear that's worth it, and a host of other problems... It's just a bad time to be raider in general.

      • Raids are too mechanic heavy and very few ppl are willing to spend hours on something they can get done with someone else in 45 mins. VoG and Crota you could literally play follow the leader and get through. Now.. its just not enjoyable. Bungie looks at the 15% compltion among players like its a badge of honor.

        • I think its more the fact that the casual raid scene is dead. Raids now feel like something out of WoW where you can't have fun or make mistakes without hours of effort being lost. That or the mechanic hell that bingo bungo have a hard on for. Seriously do we need 7 bloody different mechanics for the last boss when most players that aren't super raid competitive or streamers have already had enough stress from at most a 2 hour run if they are first time runner? What happened with raids like VoG, Crota, Wrath of the machine, hell even the Calus fight was simple, but challanging. I mean there is a reason people cheesed Riven, because they wanted a fun badass boss fight not another complex puzzle. :/ Now they aren't super bad when you do learn them, but then it kills the drive of any new players have to bother since it seems like so much is being thrown at you all at once. So it kills the raid community in the long run because its become more hardcore, meaning that there is a significantly massive decrease in the raid population due to no new players trying them. Heck maybe bring back the old Easy mode Hard mode system. Then all they have to do is just reskin the hard mode weapons and add a intrinsic or unique perk to them like the bane perks from the old days that or the raid they are from they do more damage in. Kinda like the Leviathan armor benefits. All in all, I think the lack of definable loot, current views and learning curves, and as well as mechanic inflation tend to kill fun casual runs until experienced players pull unsure friends or randoms into the raid and take a few hours to teach them.... Which rarely happens. We are back to the D1 days of "No Ghally get kicked" mentality.

          • I consider KWTD to simply mean know what to do... doesn't mean you have experience and completions, it just means you've seen videos and understand the mechanics... you still get those requests though, but it will say that! Must have this that and the other; well this has always been around: d1 gally, for example!!

          • The people posting that are just trying to get experienced players. Definitely understandable. This raid requires 6 GOOD players that can multi-task well and know what’s going on. The whole 940+ multiple clears have emblem blah blah blah is stupid. I beat the final boss with a 922 and a 930 in our group. I’ll take a lower power competent player over a 950+ that can’t raid any day.

Teaching people is fun! When I offer to teach, my only conditions are 1) being a high enough power to not get one-shot by common enemies throughout the Raid, which I think is fair enough (for example, I believe being 930 or over lets you tank a non-direct shot from a non-major Cyclops at any point in Garden of Salvation, not 100% sure but that should give you the idea), and 2) not using a loadout that is inherently and obviously awful e.g. Sidearm/Sidearm/Sword. In the last week I've taken a few teams of first-time Raiders into GoS, we usually get to the third encounter before people have to start tapping out due to time constraints, but it's always nice to see their reactions to doing something new! People appreciate patience and laid-back-ness like you wouldn't believe, crack a few jokes and get along nicely with everyone! The people that are willing to put themselves out there as newbies tend to be the best kind of players to Raid with because they don't get mad over the slightest mistake (unless it's one they made themselves and they're frustrated, which happens to us all) and are just happy to get something done at all, doesn't matter if it was a perfect execution or a janky mess that somehow got there. I really like to think that the Guided Games system would work if adjustments were made to it, but needing a clan to offer to guide can get in the way and the queue times are very off-putting for searchers. Won't be available today/tomorrow, but if anyone is looking to be taught for any Raid on XBL, send me a message and we can try to work something out, no catch! Groups looking to be taught would be preferred to save time looking for further members but solos are more than welcome too.
Hope I didn't sound too braggadocious, I just like helping people through stuff when I'm bored because it makes all parties feel good about it. Maybe it's just me but I find it hard to put myself out there as offering a kind of service without coming across in that way.
• A new thing I noticed that started gaining traction in D2 is the "need an X amount of completitions". I don't remember seeing much of that back then. It was mostly need to have emblem or something like that.

                • I remember raiding and being stuck on the final boss for 4 hours, only to have one member be disconnected from the raid. I also remember that entire team sticking around to get that member his rewards by completing it again. Probably because it was this week. In Garden of Salvation.

                • MUST HAVE GALLAJHORN!!! Enough said. It is absolutely no different. My clan use to run raids with newbies, but it just got so bad after a while, a bunch of people who wouldn't learn or listen to how an encounter went. Don't blame people for not helping to teach, when the other side doesn't want to learn. DON'T just blame the so called elitists, it also goes the other way.

                  • Then join a first time group and do not demand to join into groups with high requirements aiming to do a fast run for the loot. There are many "first time" groups on lfg.

                  • Did you even play Destiny 1? Most of the groups in lfgdotnet were “kwtd”. There are plenty of ways to learn a raid without doing it. And for your first time make a group yourself with the tag “first time”, people will join. The “kwtd” is nothing new, nor does it mean those raid groups are actually any good. There are plenty of idiots who’ve done the raid once who make a group and still have no clue as to how the fights work.

                    • Give raid a more open Matchmaking option or scale its features on the number of people who enter it. Ones easier than the other, but at least people can share and collaborate faster.

                      • If your not willing to grind for the gear to be a better raider, make your own post saying wanting to learn, if I'm searching for a group I'm not trying to spend 8 hours teaching. If I join a post saying that their learning. I'm far more tolerant
