Remember when people taught you the raid?

I wish the raid community was like in Destiny 1. I can't stand these raid posts, " KWTD have mountaintop and recluse, have every exotic, run this subclass, do a finisher on everything, have every single weapon in the game, use them all at once, wear every armor set at the same time and have all stats 100 on each piece" I just want to do raids ! • Yeah I used to be big on the raids but it's because of this that I have stopped raiding almost all together. But it's like that with pvp too, So I've just adopted to mindset that if u can't get it solo, then I'm not getting it! Sad but....the destiny community isn't as open arms and nice as Deej likes to make everyone think.

  • Elitism was very much an issue in D1 as well. People need to take of their rose tinted nostalgi glasses. Pro Tip: make your own post and specify that it will be a lax group and that any experience is welcome.

  • I won’t lie teaching a full group how to run sotp was hard but I enjoyed every minute of it because they actually learned encounter through playing not watching

LoL
Lol, D1 had the same issues. This isn't D2 exclusive People will most likely still help you learn the raid if you haven't attempted it yet, but that doesn't mean you can't do prior research first so it's easier to pick up. A single video or guide isn't that much of a requirement and it benefits both parties in the long run.

  • Look for chill groups on the100.io and build up some karma. There are some great, friendly and patient people there. Every "KWTD or get kicked" (KWTD or have at least watched a video is different, those people have an expectation for learning and mistakes to be involved) group I've joined was just miserable. A lot of poking insults at each other and people who were fast to quit. Oddly enough, I've never been in a "or get kicked" group that actually succeeded. I mean you'd expect those people to be amazing right? It'll be easier in a month, they'll figure out even better methods and people won't be jumping into the raid barely 920 without a good solid loadout. (plus the mods will be built up for people). I just hope they're still doing Divinity runs in a few weeks.

    • Usually don’t mind inexperienced players in raids but it’s frustrating when they don’t have any idea what to do, show some interest and watch a video first please

So your saying the you never saw Vog or crota have clears and Ghorn ever? It's always been a thing and will always be a thing get over yourself. (Edit) you barely done any raids and only have 1 clear in the whole game (last wish) it's your fault and don't try and blame lfg when it's your own fault

    • Always go in blind then look at a datto video when we give up trying to figure out, then blind again next encounter.

    • D1 raids could mostly be performed solo or in a team of three if you had good players. It was easier to pick up randoms and teach them because as the encounter could be performed by about 3 people all they really had to do was sit back, watch and maybe shoot a little. KWTD posts have always existed. Some people don't have a lot of time in their day to play raids and it is perfectly reasonable for them to ask for like-minded people who would also like to get it done quickly. Sometimes these KWTD posts have kind people in them and with fireteams of 5 people who know what to do it's easy to except one noob into the group so that they can learn. Raids are really fun. But you also need to consider the fact that 5 other people with their own lives and time restrictions are using it to do this activity with you as well. Sometimes you can find people willing to teach, other times you won't be able to. It's almost guaranteed that you will see mostly KWTD posts during the weekdays because people don't have a lot of time to play due to school or work; however, on weekends it's easier to find teaching posts, as more people have the time to accept a newcomer. I understand your frustration. As raiding is fun, and I wish everyone could experience it; however, your post is basically a nostalgia-fueled exaggeration. I can assure you that the only thing that was different in a couple of D1 raids was that the earlier ones could be completed easily, resulting in fewer KWTD posts. There are still people that teach raids today, and most posts requirement isn't nearly as exaggerated as you say they are. I hope you can find a team to teach you. If you play on Steam my clan would be more than happy to help. Good luck raiding.

    • Or you could just create your own post because people don’t have to cater to other people. Or you can join a clan that does raid sherpas as there is a billion clans on recruitment forums that want people and are willing to teach as long as you ask and don’t demand to be taught straight away.

Must know what to do, Be able to leap a building in a single bound, be more powerful than a locomotive, must be mistaken for a bird or plane, must have a red cape Edit: but really when a raids brand new and your posting know what do to stuff like what do y'all want to be carried by the world first team members or the runners up, like what the actual (redacted) Personally it's not on the top of my priorities. I'm holding out for the dungeon, that's what I want to do asap, I'll even try to one man that dungeon when it launches if none my friends are on.

      • So just ran the raid for the second time. Scrolling past the multitude of the KWTD posts, I joined one that said willing to teach. Figured I’d learn a new role maybe, or just get further mastery of whatever. Had so much more fun in the team with 3 ppl who were brand new to it. Everyone was patient and understanding of mistakes. First tried the first part of the raid, third tried the second. Struggling admittedly through the rest but hell, so much more enjoyable. If a group is incessant about number Of clears and kwtd, chances are they enjoy blaming the weakest link, rather than trying to help that person learn. Ignore and avoid these groups. I’ll admit, some of these groups may take longer if they are new to the raid. But I assure you the stress free environment is worth it. It’s always nice to hear “hey man, what can we do to help you?”, “is there anything in particular that’s giving you difficulty?”, “would you prefer to do this role instead?” Instead of “dude you’ve got to stop dying!!”,

      • Yes, every now and then I will link up with a crew on lfg to teach Though I have raided in the past very heavily. Now it's taken a back seat due to life. I do remember teaching anyone new to D1 til Rise of Iron how to play the raids. It has always been the same though. Best weapons for the encounters and best subclass. You can carry 1 or 2 and teach with a chance of.succeeding. now its let's run through and get the loot. It's not a problem trust me.time and energy spent on this game. People want to maximize it at all cost.

      • I’m ok with the kwtd part honestly. It’s the bull crap “must have 2500000 clears. Honest to god when you get someone in there whether they have 1 or 100 clears they either know how to do it or don’t. I know people who have many clears and raids And still struggle. You are either competent or not. Bungie created this problem by having emblems that show completions and API’s that allow integration to see it.

      • It’s not like those people even know what they are doing either. It’s always some stupid -blam!-ing trash team that “knows” what to do but is so bad at the game that they waste all your -blam!-ing time and you never even end up completing the raid or even most of the encounters.

        •
Pepperidge Farm remembers
Yea I loved doing VOG and CE back in the day even though they refused to drop a mythoclast or gally for me. Don’t care to raid in d2. Everyone is too elitist, and my hatred of voice chat doesn’t help. I had a great team in d1 that taught me without voice, showing me what to do. I learn quick. None of them are in D2 though.

        • D1 raids for the most part were much easier to carry other players. I’ve yet to complete the new raid, crown of sorrows or spire and I’m okay with that. I haven’t been dedicated enough to try them yet

        • The real problem is Bungie and their love for the wipe mechanic. Now you can’t have one potato on your team, because it makes everyone else fail the encounters.

          • I have run VoG, Crota, Kings Fall, and Rise of Iron raids quit a lot. And for the most part, they were fun. Rise of Iron raid was okay but I think that is where the mechanic increase started. The raids in D2 just are not fun. They are technically impressive but they are designed for the no-life streamer. Too many mechanics and too complicated. They just aren't fun. I want to have fun but Destiny is more work now than it has ever been.
