Remember when people taught you the raid?

I wish the raid community was like in Destiny 1. I can't stand these raid posts, " KWTD have mountaintop and recluse, have every exotic, run this subclass, do a finisher on everything, have every single weapon in the game, use them all at once, wear every armor set at the same time and have all stats 100 on each piece" I just want to do raids ! • I used to teach people Raids. There are two reasons why I stopped. First, time constraints. I work afternoons into the evenings on weekdays. Severely limiting my playtime. I would like to feel that I'm making progress towards something when I'm playing. Yes, Raid are very much worth doing. But throw in having to explain every encounter, a few runs to reinforce what's going on, and the actual run where the encounter is completed, and each encounter can easily take over an hour to do. Next, people not owning up to messing up. This is something a lot of people do, but it seems to be more common with people who aren't familiar with the Raid. It happens so often, and it makes me mad every time. Before starting an encounter, we ask if everyone knows what's going on, everyone says yes, we start, something happens that causes a wipe, we ask what happened and who did it so we can try to stop it from happening again, and no one owns up to it. So what happens next? Everyone starts blindly accusing others, people get upset and start arguing back, everyone's too busy trying to prove that they got the biggest pair in the Fireteam to even pay attention to the encounter, leading to countless wipes, more yelling, and eventually everyone rage quitting. It's a video game. It's meant to relieve stress from your daily life, not cause more.

    • There’s always posts for people willing to teach, you can’t go into a post with people who want to get the raid done with people who have done so already. You wouldn’t hire someone who has no experience to build a house.

    • You can still find people willing to help. That's how I got my first Last Wish done. There were four people in that fireteam that had zero idea what to do besides from watching guides. I admittedly never seen a guide prior either. But the dude was pretty clear and patient with everyone. Mainly, the reason why I post "KWTD" is that I just really want to get a raid done. And I'm awful at explaining things Lmfao

      • "Must have Emblem" is the worst. Apparently my knowledge/skill revolves around an emblem tied to the buggiest Raid Bungie has ever released. It's not MY fault I havent cleared the raid. I've gone through 30+ Fireteams trying to beat the last boss. Is all that experience worth nothing because I lack an emblem?? Apparently so... 🤷‍♂️

              • I remember in D1, I tried to get into a raid and I put up my own LFG that was titled "Never did this raid, looking for a group to teach me to do the raid." Got the group together in orbit... first question I was asked "So have you done the raid before?" Uh... no? I said in my LFG that I never di- "Wait this guys' never done the raid? I didn't sign up for this!" "Man I was hoping for a chill quick run I didn't wanna sherpa. -blam!- this." And they all left me.

                  • from my experience , most people who ask for " 980 peoples with recluse / mountain top , 100+ clear and every weapon in the game " are shit guardian who need a carry . Most of my raids in d2 have been with atleast 1-2 player that needed to learn the said raid . If youre a decent player , youll be able to explain , cover for those players weaknesses and clear the raid in decent time .

So say for instance someone is in a clan of a rather large size, say 91 people or so, Shouldn’t that person have access to a fairly sizable amount of potential people to raid with/sherpas so they wouldn’t have to rely on LFG to learn the raid? Just asking for a friend.

                    • Best experience I ever had was five completely random guy from 100.io (I think that was the site). I had never done Wrath of the Machine, but posted that I was s competent player with all the right gear and just wanted to learn it and run it. They came in, we crushed in decent time. I did well, I also sucked some, and that was okay. Had a blast. It’s def intimidating to jump into raids, and I say that as someone who communicated well and is general a strong player who knows how to stay alive, kill stuff, and follow orders. Still a tall order to find FIVE random people on the internet who are enjoyable enough to want to take on a (sometimes) high stress / focus goal for two hours or more.

                      • Yes dude, drop out scrubs need to compensate a lack of recognition and satisfaction irl by feeling superior in a pre-teens video game. Bungie is a business who takes advantage of this very limited market segment. It’s casino. So you definitely get to see a lot of strange individuals who are convinced of their special skills for pressing a button.

                      • It’s not the teaching or the people it’s that d2 raids are more team involved puzzles and d1 was more this is how we beat this boss on to the next

I taught many people back in D1 how to do VoG. It was such a great community back then. Nowadays people are rude and impatient. I understand people just want it done, but you have to keep in mind theres thousands of us who've yet to step into any destiny 2 raid and just want a learning experience so then they too can help others. Heck I havent done a single Destiny 2 raid, would like to learn leviathan cause i like the gear, but its mostly "kwtd". Thus is why i go to r/fireteams instead. Edit: I understand there was groups asking for ghorn and IB or know how to relic glitch or know how to push gatekeeper or push atheon with solar nades. What I mean by great community there was less toxicity people could actually find a team and do the raid without said weapons or glitches.

                          • I’ve been teaching raids, a lot of people are cut out for it. I’m sorry man, but if I’ve burned through a raid so many times, you will find it hard to stay at one checkpoint for hours. I just want to get it done, and one person is sinking a whole teams day. Some just wanted to knock a raid out and go about our lives, so if someone isn’t getting it after five fails, and I hardly see improvement, I’m kicking and not regretting. Some people want to be carried, and it’s very obvious when every failure doesn’t teach them something.
