I can imagine that to them it sounded good on paper but in execution it's not what they were looking for. I do hope that they address this oversight.
Still, I do like this system more than something like a crafting mechanic with random rolls. And from what I understand other than the affinity thing the only thing you have to chase are the perks/mod slots. Now pretty much any gear can have enhanced perks

I'm just leveling up so I don't waste what mods/ materials I do have so far. Having more options is something they should look into like when the base game having mods for element burn being able to switch things out.
