I have completely given up on total customization of my gear. Once I reach max light, I'm just going to upgrade to 5 energy and use the armor neutral mods and maybe go to 6 total energy to add a +1 mod. It's waaaaay cheaper to do that that to completely masterwork your gear. Right now, I've just been putting on whatever is the highest light.
I hate having low mobility, recovery, resilience and having garbage super time. The grenade and melee times are pretty much the same as always of you have at least tier 3 stats on them so that part doesn't really feel too different. All in all, the new system is a dumpster fire. Bungie lied in the Vidoc about being able to play and look how we want. They've always lied though. Gotta get that money. Sigh.

It just takes time. More time than we'd like unfortunately.

they didnt lie, do you even know what youre saying? every time a piece of armor drops, it rolls with different stats and element. obviously you decide hey what sort of build do i want? do i want to run pulse rifles with constant grenades.... then you aim for armor with high disciple and tailor the mods around grenades and pulse rifle. The new gear is so easy to farm, every time you kill a boss on the moon, you have a chance to get a quest that gives you a gaurenteed armor/weapon drop. you can literally buy the quests by farming for the currency. so you can spam the same weapon or armor piece quest multiple times until you get the perfect stats. (obviously if you dont care about looks or if you like the moon set). you can do the same with the vex offensive that just came out. you can literally farm any content you one until you get the perfect piece of gear. you no longer have to aim for raid gear, you can go hey i like the EDZ warlock set, im going to just farm edz bounties, public events, lost sectors etc until i get the gear to drop with the stats i favour for my build. since the stat rolls are random, you get it eventually. then you can just breakdown other gear to upgrade its light level. the only downside to this system, is gear that you cant farm naturally in game... i.e faction wars gear, (Iron banner will be a -blam!- to farm if you like a specific set). Destiny 2 has one of the best loot/power system compared to other mmos. although WoW has a great transmog system, this new armor 2.0 offers more control and customisation then any other mmo's transmog/loot system ive seen to date. sure its not perfect, but whats the point to a game if it doesnt force you to grind and put the extra effort in to get exactly what you want?
do i want to run pulse rifles with constant grenades.... then you aim for armor with high disciple and tailor the mods around grenades and pulse rifle.
Unless I’m wrong which I hope I am, mods are linked to a subclass. So something like Pulse Riffle Targeting or loader is tied to Arc. If your running a grenade build wouldn’t you want to run something like “Impact Induction”? When you get grenade energy for every melee kill so you have your grenade even more often? If so that mod is tied to solar armour so you can’t. For the moment I’m lucky my main load out is Last Word/Sniper and their mods both run on Void armour. But back in D1 my favourite load out was Doctrine/Sniper. If that was D2 Doctrine being a auto rifle would run on Solar so I couldn’t run say a auto rifle targeting mod and a sniper rifle targeting mod because of the solar void limitation. I really liked the sound of armour 2.0 but the reality just doesn’t deliver for me at least.
