Getting back into this game pre-Annual Pass, need advice
Hey guys been a while since I geared up my guardian & booted up this game. I got through most of the Forsaken content except it’s raid. Fought off hordes at the Blind Well, participated in the Gambit sinking hours worth of motes into that damn bank, & even went through nightfall coming out on top (considering nightfalls were my weakness).
SO, where do I begin? After hearing the Annual Pass is now free for us I’d figure why not check all the new stuff out before Shadowkeep.
Btw my main issue currently is having all this downgraded gear since day 1. Scrapped most but no clue what to do with my 550+ since the cap got raised. I remember enhancement cores being a real drag trying to farm back then so please let me know what to do.
All advice/insight regarding the Black Armory, Gambit Prime, etc. is definitely welcome & extremely helpful!

1 ReplyDo the menagerie quest from Benedict in the tower to get free 690 gear. DO NOT INFUSE ANYTHING. Everything is going to be upped to 750 automatically at shadowkeep launch so it's not worth wasting the enhancement cores at this time. Just run with the gear you have. There isn't much you wont be able to do not being above 690.

Banshee has bounties that grant enhancement cores now so hit him up if you need them. Benedict 99-40 has those power boost quest as well. Getting the exotic quests done is what I'd probably prioritze: [spoiler]If you don't have Wish-Ender yet you could go get that this week I believe. Jötunn & Le Monarque drop from forging powerful weapon frames (I believe the Bergusia forge in thw EDZ drops both of them). Izanagi's Burden starts when you open a secret chest beneath Volundr forge in the EDZ. The Last Word quest can be picked up from The Drifter I believe? The Thorn quest can be picked up from a secret camp in the EDZ (through the salt mines). The Lumina quest can also be found there. Outbreak Perfected can be found in a small room in the south eastern area of Titan. The quest for Truth starts after killing the ogre boss in the Menagerie. Bad Juju starts in the tribute hall but it'll probably take awhile to get if you're not swimming in materials. And you could pick up all the pinnacle weapon quests: 3 vanguard, 3 crucible, and 3 gambit. [/spoiler]

Start with Arcite 44. He is now in the Annex of the tower(there's a waypoint for him). He'll give some bounties to help you get up to 690. Also, dont infuse anything, enhancement cores are uncommon and on the 1st all gear is going to automatically go up to 750 light.

I would do the Menagerie stuff. You get a mission that will boost you to 690. It's fairly quick, and Menagerie is one of the best designs in the game. Custom rewards too.

1 ReplyGo see Benedict in the tower, he has a quest that rewards you blue 690 gear. This will enable you to do menagerie which begins at 690. Honestly there's no real point in playing right now, forges are auto unlocked on the 1st, so don't bother unlocking the 2nd and 3rd forges. The first one is easy to unlock, the 4th is unlocked already. Maybe grab a hammerhead machine gun (powerful machine gun frame) as your first gun. The AR isn't much good but might be in shadowkeep given the AR buff. They're the only 2 you can get without unlocking forges. Other than that, do your gunsmith 3 daily bounties, takes 10 mins n rewards you mod components n enhancement cores which you'll need next month

While all gear is converted and useless in a couple weeks, you should spend your time maxing out the chalice and upgrading your reckoning synth. Those two aspects of the game allow you to basically farm any specific archetype of gear/weapons. Once shadow keep comes out, you can get as more than 5 pieces of powerful gear just running this every week.

I recently came back to this game and was overwhelmed with all the content I hat to catch up on. Definitely hit up Benedict for the 690 blues which will boost your character and drop levels. The Menagerie is tough with those blues equipped though. Don’t bother using enhancement cores unless you really, really want to get an item to 750. Everything gets auto-bumped to 750 come October.
