I'll be honest, I'm going to buy and play Shadowkeep+Seasons regardless but I still don't like it.
I don't like it because it's handouts to people who can't or don't play enough. I don't like the whole thing in general, I don't care if someone shills out X amount of money at the end of the season. What's next, a daily login bonus? You should get your items, mats, loot etc. from in game, not rewards from a battlepass.
Sure, let's make an exotic handcannon but everyone gets it for free day 1. Pretty much the same thing people complained about year 1 when exotics were rewards from campaign missions.
Instead of making this mundane system, they could have updated existing content to have better rewards.
It's repetitive I know, but Destiny 1 had a fantastic system when it came to post-activity rewards and light level climb. You could play any activity and you could still raise -slowly but surely- your light level. Play 20 strikes for the hell of it, replace a few items by 1 or 2 light levels; maybe by the end of it you gained 3 light levels, it's not much but you can just play whatever you wanted. Loot was better too. Not only were there strike specific loot but there were drops only found in the strike playlist itself, remember Hopscotch Pilgrim? Red Spectre from crucible? You see what I mean? These were weapons you (AFAIK) couldn't just buy from the Vanguard or Shaxx.
To reiterate my point. Why add another redundant system when there is already systems in place that only need to be updated? We can make the existing systems (strikes, crucible, gambit etc.) that won't be going away more rewarding just as the season pass. As a player I would rather grind specific in game loot/activities than just F-off somewhere grinding 100 season pass levels...

Handouts? Who thinks in terms of games this way? People pay real money to play this title. I don't understand the mindset that not only does someone have to pay close or near a hundred bucks and further support the title through dlc, but that they must also conform to some arbitrary, ridiculous, elitist code that suggest they put in some absurd amount of hours and have some absurd amount of clears in something in order to obtain that thing. I know this may come as a shock to you, but how another player chooses to play Destiny 2 and how much or how little, what they chose to pay for and what they don't, has ZERO effect on you and how you decide you want to play the game. I'm not speaking of you specifically, but gamers have got to be the biggest hypocrites on the planet. Where is the outcry over account recoveries? Where is the outrage from players that are paying third parties to get what is arguably the best gun in the game? Nowhere. On that it's silence. But OMG Heaven forbid a player decides to shell out a few bucks to rank up faster then someone else. Then it's a problem. Give me a break.
