Alternate Interpretation of Lost Prophecy 1

Two siblings cleaved by time and space, reflections never found alone, The ending of the eldritch race—a path long seen but never known.
This the first of Osiris‘s lost prophecies, which have been getting more popular lately, especially this one. The current popular interpretation of this prophecy is about Mara and Uldren Sov, as featured in Myelin Games latest video and on Reddit. I personally feel like this is way too much of a stretch and focuses too much on the word “siblings” and the Sov’s loose connection to the Black Garden. I want to present my own alternative interpretation of the first lost prophecy. Let’s establish some stuff first: In the lore, the followers of Osiris have a theory that the first five verses are about the Black Garden. But rather than sticking to that interpretation like others have done, I’m going to leave it out, since the followers of Osiris have literally no idea what the prophecies are actually about, which they kinda do admit to in the lore tab where we learn about this theory. So I’m going to ignore their take on this.
Two siblings cleaved by time and space, reflections never found alone, The ending of the eldritch race—a path long seen but never known.
First off, let’s “debunk” this whole Mara and Uldren thing.
Two siblings cleaved by time and space
While these two have definitely been formed by time and space (them being Awoken and all), they definitely haven’t been cleaved by it. From what I know about the English language “cleaved” refers to something being separated. Mara and Uldren were separated when the former “died”, but the culprit was Oryx, not the universe itself.
reflections never found alone
So this would mean that Mara and Uldren are reflections of one another, which could pass as just poetic language for sibling hood. I don’t know about you, but I’ve seen Mara and Uldren alone a couple of times, seeing as both of them were dead at some point and literally in different plains of reality. I won’t go over the last two lines, because it should be obvious that you reeeaally have to stretch the meanings to connect them to the Sov siblings. I don’t want to completely disregard this interpretation, because it does have some merit to it, but we I think we could find better fitting ones down the line. _________________________________________________________ Now to my humble interpretation Here’s the whole verse again:
Two siblings cleaved by time and space, reflections never found alone, The ending of the eldritch race—a path long seen but never known.
We know we are dealing with two separated counterparts, that are necessary reflections of one and another. Those of you that know my older theories on Ulan-Tan might know where im going with this.
I always come back to them, it’s a curse...sorry :)
I think this prophecy is about the Light and and Darkness.
Two siblings cleaved by time and space, reflections never found alone,
Light and Dark are part of the same coin. They are primal sibling forces. I think their separation is obvious enough. Where there is light, there are also shadows. Darkness is the absence of light. They are never found alone. If we think of Light and Darkness as necessary forces of the Destiny universe, then we can assume that their battle for dominance has unfolded and changed throughout time and space. I’m going to allow myself the freedom of spinfoil-hat-ness...to better make some further connections, which could hold interesting revelations.
The ending of the eldritch race—a path long seen but never known.[
Seeing as this reference to an “eldritch race” is singular, let’s just assume that it refers to both the Light and Darkness. That would mean that the two were at one point in time one and the same (remember the part about separation from above) or that they are both leftovers from some sort of beings from an incomprehensible long time ago. I personally think the first one sounds more plausible. If this verse does indeed refer to the Light and Darkness, that could be a clue towards the origin of these to two extremely enigmatic parts of the Destiny universe. The verse talks about the ending of this race (hypothetical still Light and Darkness) and how this end has been coming for quite some time, but hasn’t happened yet. I think this talks about the struggle between Light and Darkness and how either side has come close to winning, but could never finish the job. But if we assume the eldritch race represents both forces, that would mean the end of both of them has been in motion for quite some time, but has yet to happen. Sorry to plug this again, but this would tie into my theory that Destiny will end with both the Light and Darkness being destroyed by us, based on the teachings of Ulan-Tan. I know that talking about things that far in the future is definitely a long shot, but I just wanted to mention it. Lastly, I think it’s fitting that the first of the prophecies would be about the two forces, which have set everything in Destiny in motion. They are the start of this story. ________________________________________________________ Hope you enjoyed. Btw, is there any demand to bring back my short lived series on Lost Sectors, for those that remember? I kinda felt bad leaving it behind, but I never really found the drive to get back into that. That could change if you guys want it to come back...

  • Light and Dark is obvious. Eldritch race end could possibly mean the end of Taken or Hive...or both. I doubt we'll deal with Savathun anytime soon...I bet we'll see Xivu before her...and when we do...that will be the endgame.

  • That does seem more plausible

  •
yes to the list sector posts.
I’m yet to watch Matt’s video but I have seen the talk about the verse on reddit. What if the words “Eldritch race” has more meaning. Definition of Eldritch means “weird and sinister or ghostly.” So a ghostly/weird and sinister race. Kinda fits the Awoken. But also the hive. And possibly the darkness. If I’m not mistaken Cayde describes the darkness as ghostly. But what if it’s connected to the vex? The weapon itself is called Garden Progeny. The meaning of progeny is “a descendant or the descendants of a person, animal, or plant; offspring.” But what if it’s a bit more metaphorical. The descendants of the garden. The black garden. When combined with the prophecy:
Two siblings cleaved by time and space, reflections never found alone, The ending of the eldritch race—a path long seen but never known.
What if the weapon name plus the prophecy is actually about the extinction of all. Light and Darkness. The two siblings part is representing the Awoken. The Eldritch race is the hive. The descendants of the black garden will eradicate all light and dark. From the Awoken siblings separated in the Dreaming City and Tangled Shore, to the Eldritch race of the hive. All will end. Heck. Throw in the contents of the lore tab and you can add humanity in there as well. It’s like Osiris says. The dark future cannot be averted.

    • I thought that was the only way to interpret it? It’s CLEARLY not about Mara and Uldren. The people who think any of the prophecies have anything to do with any of the Awoken royalty are the same people who think Elsie Bray is thé Stranger just because she used the one word “strangers” in her letter.

      •
Two siblings cleaved by time and space, reflections never found alone, The ending of the eldritch race—a path long seen but never known.
Two siblings are Light and Dark, since they used to be apart of the same power, but were reborn out of the collapse of the original "Society" that the Queen of Final Shapes ruled. The Black Garden is perhaps a fragmented piece of that original "Society". A piece of "Dark" accidently reshaped by the Gardener's influence. A reflection of the Traveler's power, as an idea began to take root. The eldritch race would be the Queen of Final Shapes and her people, before being tainted in the Void after the Traveler departed. The ending of that would be her finally capturing and taking back the Traveler, a path long in motion but never realized. Seen but never known. and yes, Light and Dark will ultimately fall onto us to decide it's fate. With new allies from each race by our side to fight a battle with unified strength, each with a common goal in mind. It will be up to the races of the mortal realm to decide their Destiny. [Calus, under no circumstances, should be trusted.] --- Future Safe 10 "See who's robed as if a god, who stands with pride above the rest! Destroy this ancient nameless fraud! Destroy the one whose death was blessed!" A fragment from Osiris —ot been easy to gather this foresight. Prophecies are tricky things: they change the future they foretell. When a seer shares their knowledge of a coming event—any event, whether good or ill—there will always be those who gather to prevent it. Say too little and your meaning is lost. Say too much and you have made the task of your enemies easier. You must say just enough so that the few who can listen will hear. I have done all I can. The rest is up to you. You must trust in me. You must trust in yourself. —Osiris --- Makes me wonder if it's even Osiris speaking with us, or if it was someone or something else who has access to the Infinite Forest.

      • <I also believe it's about the Light and Dark, but it's weird how that verse is supposed to relate to the Black Garden.>

It's an interesting tidbit for sure. I have to say however that if they are talking about Uldrin and Mara? They are cleaved by time and space. Mara is able to travel freely throughout the curse while Uldrin is continually being revived on the third week. You notice that while the awoken that are alive understand that there is a curse they are doomed to keep repeating the same actions. Where's mara? She's in contact with the exo stranger and met at the same time you met on Venus taking about how the vex. The stranger turns , walks away and says to hold their position while she boards their ship. This is believed to be mara and stranger in cahoots. So yea - time (uldren in the curse) and space (they are each in a different timeline/ universe).
