Dear Bungie,
This is a petition for you to review your permanent ban account policy. I think this an area that you can make a small change that will greatly impact some of us who have been permanently banned.
Currently, players are permanently banned for breaking the Ban and Restrictions policies (whether it happen by mistake or intentionally). I think, there should be a softer punishment to player who mistakenly break the TOC before they are permanently banned from playing the game they love. As a player, I feel it will be better if players got temporary ban before the account is permanent banned. The amount of time for the temporary ban will be based on what triggered the ban in the first place. I would rather be ban for x numbers of month that have my account banned forever.
Although I agree with you in banning cheaters and protecting your intellectual property, I think issuing a
permanent ban is too extreme. I also agree that most people you ban are purposely trying to cheat and they deserve it. However, some of us just happen to make one mistake and that cost us everything: progress, friends and the ability to play the game we love. The idea of an extended temporary ban will allow the few players who may unintentionally break the TOC to figure out the problem and come back to play the game they love. As it stands, I think the current policy doesn't have any room between no ban and permanent ban. I could be mistaken here but this is how I feel after my experience in the last couple of weeks.
Couple of weeks ago, I mistakenly opened a NVIDIA IDE while the Destiny Game was running on my pc. Two days later, the game notified me that my account was banned. At first, I was in disbelief and in shock. I (in a long time) raced to the forums to ask why I was being banned. That is when BNGSecurity came to the rescue and provided me with information about the reason why and notified me that the ban was upheld. Even though the information did not specify the application the game detected, I was able to use that to figure it out by looking at the logs of the application I ran around the time the game detected the infraction. I have been playing Destiny since The Taken King. I moved from PS4 to PC when the game was released. I never cheated or tried to do anything that was forbidden. Then one day, I opened the wrong application and got severely punished.
I recognize that you must protect the integrity of your product. However, I think you can do so while giving players like me an opportunity to fix things up and continue to play the beautiful game you have created. The banning of my account has made me realized that not only did I lose access to the game, but to my friends, special memories and a hobby that I enjoyed daily.
Yes, I can repurchase the game and start over. But, it is not simply about playing the game... It is about suggesting changes that improve it and protecting the time invested, memories created and friendships formed along the journey. That is what my account means to me.
Thank you @BNGSecurity for being so kind in providing some information.
Hopefully, see you in orbit in the near future!
