Hi all!
I recently decided to recover an old gamer tag from the Halo 3/Reach days. The account is Luna Knightt and has been a bungie.net member since June 2011. I'm running into a potential problem with using that account on BNet again, however.
When I sign in with Luna, the site asks "Is this your first Bungie.net Profile?" to which I say it's not. On the next screen it only has options for logging in with Playstation or Battle.net. I'm pretty sure this account was previously a Bnet profile using strictly email/password for authentication and not even Microsoft auth.
Is there any way to ensure my Luna Knightt login can remain tied to the original Bungie profile?

Thanks!

Got bad news for you bud.
For a Bungie.net profile to be recovered, it cannot be linked to any active authentication methods. If linked, it will not be presented to the player during the account recovery flow. Players will have up to 90 days to recover lost or closed Bungie.net profiles. After 90 days, this process will be unavailable.
https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Article/12130

Back in 2015 Bungie changed the account logins from their own system to using console credentials. We all had a limited time frame to add a valid console login to our existing Bungie accounts. If you never did that process then the account was removed after a certain date in 2015. The only way to recover an orphaned account today is if you orphaned it in the last 90 days. Sounds to me like your account was auto orphaned back in 2015 which is well beyond the time frame for an account recovery.
