CHAPTER 8: Dusk ‘Til Dawn
“Of sorts,” it said in a male voice, eerily similar to Sylv’s own. “You have many, many questions. I will begin by telling you this: as of right now, you are no weaker than a god. You are no weaker than a god king. In this state, in this place, you are a true god of gods. As am I.” Sylv pondered for a second what woul- “Before you go into the philosophy of us doing battle, introductions are in order. My name is Ravvyn. You are Sylver - Soulshatter, Voidheart, King of Blades, and many other things. I believe you prefer vocal, direct conversation, so go ahead. Speak.”
Sylv tried to speak, and found he could not. As he tangled with pushing out his thoughts, he finally found that he couldn’t speak vocally, but directly through the spirit. “Why am I here? What do you want from me?”
The figure lifted his hand, drifting it out in front of him, and Sylv could feel existence shift with it. “As I said, I am Ravvyn, and I have existed for a very, very long time. As mortals see me, I am a god, and a powerful one at that. While there are many elements to rule over - light and dark, fire and ice, life and death - perhaps none are so unique as what I have come to oversee.
“Surrounding all elements, giving them life and existence, is Soul. Soul is the force behind magic, energy, and life. All things know Soul, even if they do not know of it.
“And then, between all things, hidden deep behind, under, and within everything is Null. It is the opposite of Soul, so to say. Null represents an absolute nothing, which seeks to be just that. Without guidance, the Null would consume all - everything that is lost would be taken. Anyone who died would get no afterlife, but would simply cease to exist.
“That is where I come in. I command these things so that they may exist in balance and regulation, and so they may do their part in the world. And now, so do you. You have always had a connection to the Null, as I am the one that planted it within you. That connection is what has given you such flawless control over souls, and now it has been awakened. Here, within the Null, you have learned to direct and command it, with a little guidance. This is normally something that takes immeasurable time, energy, and the things that go with them. However, I created you to be different. You are truly the perfect being. Your innate command over the Null could’ve given you access to any element you chose. You could’ve become king of countless kingdoms for countless ages, but you chose to be so much more.
“You pursued the path of Soul and Null, so that you may fulfill your purpose. And here you are, standing in the end of things, having a conversation that doesn’t exist. And you are wondering what your role in this is.
“Well, you see, your roll is mine. I used to travel the cosmos, interacting with the most pivotal events of worlds, and keeping existence in check. However, my existence is imperfect, as with all of the other gods. I am not like you. As I have grown so powerful that the other gods have no power in comparison, the Beyond calls to me. I’m happy to say I’ve made it far, much farrer than most gods could dream of reaching, but as I said, I and all other things are imperfect. You are not. You, unlike me, will last. You will continue to grow, to gain power until you reach your current state as the master of all things. And then, existence will be safe. Truly and finally safe.
“I created you to take up my mantle, that of the Bleeding Raven, as I have named you, and become the perfect god, so that you may keep the existence safe. Everything I am - my realm, my followers, and eventually my power - I give to you. You are the closest thing to a son I could have, and I know you will fulfill your role.” Ravvyn went silent, and Sylv just stood there, thinking. The nothing all around him numbed the shock, so it wasn’t long until he had processed it all.
“Now,” said Ravvyn. “It is time.” He walked up to Sylv, and upon his slow nod of confirmation, placed one hand on his forehead, and one on his chest. All at once, it began.
Sylv felt both intense heat and unbelievable cold - limitless energy and absolute nothing - coursing through him at once. He couldn’t see, but he was somehow aware of the black runes appearing along his body, letting off deep black smoke. Up they ran, pushing black tear-trails into the glowing white depths of his eyes. As existence came back, everything went white.
Fare thee well, Sylver, and good luck. You have a very long road ahead of you.
And that's that. I had originally intended to post this a couple days later, but I just realized I'lll be away from my computer for over a week starting tomorrow, so here we are. I hope you guys liked it, and I hope it made sense. This is now the official backstory of my Offtopic persona.

For anyone who wants to read the rest and hasn't, here's the master post: https://www.bungie.net/en/Groups/Post?groupId=3783849&postId=252411339&sort=0&page=0

For anyone wondering what happens next, Sylv still has ownership of the Valley of Twilight, which acts as his realm. The underground complex he explored rose above the ground, becoming a towering, dark castle. So here you go: I'm the most OP god-mod in Offtopic. Fortunately, I will almost never use this level of strength in any instance.
