See that? 27 meters. Granted this is with great perks meant for mapping like that, but dang. 27 meters.
If super damage resilience gets reduced and this kill range isn't changed, the Crucible is about to be filled with a whole lot of voops. I don't even want to imagine that.
Edit: I only tested to about 30 meters, but apparently a good user can get it to reach our even further to something like 50-70 meters.
Also, realize I didn't scream for a nerf. I literally just opened up a conversation about the Erentil and how it could be a problem now or down the road, as conversation and feedback are literally the point of the forums.
Nerfs are not the only option and a nerf is not the point of this post.
Edit 2: My friend got a roll from Banshee with Tap the Trigger, Firmly Planted, Liquid Coils, the scope (forget the name), and a range masterwork. A stationary target was killed at 70 meters and a moving target was killed at 40. Moving target was a hunter at 8 mobility using stompees. He strafed while ADSing and while not. He also tried running in a straight line across Dead Cliffs. Died consistently at 35-40 meters. (Little bit of variability built in in case he didn't move in a perfectly horizontal fashion.)
Last Edit: To those saying these tests don't matter at all, here's a link to a poll. The results line up almost directly with the test under Edit 2. Granted it's still growing, but there ya have it.

Nothing new to me, fusion rifles have played in mid range since TTK. They weren't an issue then, and honestly they still aren't up to the likes of shotguns as they hold around double the amount of kills. Erentil is simply on the table and seen as something viable since the nerf of Mythoclast, same for snipers since the release of D2.

Edited by GMDeece7: 7/27/2019 1:18:28 AMStill shotgun meta. Good shotgunners can easily beat erintil by luring them around a corner. I can guarantee that most high tier competitive is still filled with more shotguns then fusion rifles. Radar may not be the most reliable, but they still know how to use them. Backup plan still does not work fast enough at close range.
-
Here we go again.....
-
Actually just saw a video where that fusion rifle can kill from 104 meters if in a well of radiance, it having the right perks, and if all shots connect (which was easy in the video cause he target was holding still)
-
Fusion rifles have always been the bridge between close range shotguns and long range snipers. A way to balance this is to greatly reduce stability on high impact fusions and buff the damage or stability of the other frames.
-
How do you measure meters in game?
-
The one good thing about Erentil and why it isnt already slaughtering everyone is two holdback reasons. 1. Its basically impossible to farm. This is a more irrelevant case than the months prior, with menagerie, but since that is dead, its not commonplace. Due to it being so hard to obtain before, ie gunsmith packages, only the few who managed a god roll from the gunsmith - myself. 2. Its a good gun. A great gun. But you must stack one very important meta caused problem. Almost all other fusions are terrible in pvp. Few exceptions, but Erentil hangs as the best. Shotguns are king, followed by snipes. Shotguns in specific are the most similar to fusions, with erentil being a more ranged weapon. But when you stack on the multiple things going against getting an erentil, you must stack on the unnatural nature of the fusion. Generally, a shotty ape has probably never taken a fusion into pvp, and will possibly become instantly disgusted with the the weapon and go back to their comfort zone, the shotgun or sniper. Only people who see the gun for what it can be see that it can be more. Youtubers do assist with this, and definitely increase the number of people wanting erentils, the aspects fighting it will never make the erentil king of crucible, unless a major change happens.

People over reacting to “content” is a bigger problem in the playerbase than one god rolled special weapon.

A well rolled one can kill from over 50 meters but ok
-
Edited by BraddyBo: 7/28/2019 1:17:18 AMI believe 70m is the max range. Requirements: Under pressure (<50% mag) or Firmly planted Tap the trigger Liquid coils Long zoom scope MW range or stability
-
Well crucible is filled with stompee 5 super mod max range shotuns right now....
-
So ur enemies just stand still while u shoot them?
-
That’s a good thing because it shuts down shotgunners.
-
How worse can specials get in PvP? They literally destroyed Shotguns and all that is left now is Dust Rock Blues on console. You do this with Fusion Rifles...Erentil will still be the strongest just like Dust Rock Blues. There is no balance with Destiny 2 PvP anymore. Small blanket nerfs never do anything good for this game. PvP should just be reworked or wait until Destiny 3. Or just give us some new Crucible maps for crying out loud.

I’ll just leave this here... https://youtu.be/prMxsLkGv3U

Bro . 27m is chump change. My back up plan roll OHKs at 43m DARCI confirmed against 4 resilience guardian. 25m is like the limit of my in air ohk range( game knowledge guesstimate)
-
You mean it isn't filled with voops on whatever platform you play on?
-
Oh yup! People complain about shotguns but shotguns require you to be <10m away from someone. Triple that? Forget that they have charge time, that is nuts and just rewards people for being more passive and hanging back to have enough time to charge a shot. Not to mention you can use backup plan to completely negate the chargeup for two successive shots
-
The crucible is mostly just a one shot contest and a broken system of perpetuation of abilities. There will always be issues and way too many matches will be very one sided. I wish the people that make it could understand and see this.
-
Had a guy own me with it in pvp yesterday. I get it’s a one shot but some of his kills was from pretty far away
-
Pretty neat. Little known fact: you can take half a player's health at even further ranges than this. Imagine the possibilities.
-
Only 27 meters? weak
-
You will still need to hit 2 FULL bursts if they get nerfed.
-
sounds fun
