I made the mistake of playing Way of the Sharpshooter yesterday during IB. It is actually the worst class in the game hands down.
So first, the grenade are mediocre at best. Swarm is literally skip, but worse. Incendiary is extremely unforgiving in terms of max damage radius. Tripmine is a joke. I have a clip from yesterday where I kill 2 guys and then get pushed by a third. I knew I was gonna die, so I stuck a tripmine to the wall before I do. Then, my blueberry shoots the guy, who then activates my tripmine and dies. But guess what? The feed counted it as an architects kill for my blue. That's right. Didn't even count as an ability kill for my bounty.
The throwing knife is cool and all, but it didn't count as an ability kill for the bounty either. It also has a weird hitbox where you see your knife literally unicorning someone as they run off, but it didn't count as a precision hit. Knife juggler is really nice.
Then there's the class abilities where precision hits decrease your super cooldown. This decrease is hardly noticeable and adds virtually no benefits to the neutral game of this subclass. No synergy. No game changing reward for doing certain things. Nothing. I got my super faster by going on shotgun sprees than I did going on sprees with Ace of Spades.
Then, the super. Don't even get me started. Way of the Sharpshooter has 3 shots that have accuracy dropoff due to range when Way of the Outlaw has 6 shots that have no accuracy dropoff at all. The hit detection for WotS is actually atrocious. I never got more than 2 or 3 kills a game with my super yesterday because the shot literally just ghosted. I know for a fact if I was using 6 shot goldy, all those shots would've hit. You also have to get a precision hit with it to kill a super. Normally I'd be okay with this, but the hit detection is so bad you either get a body shot or miss entirely, unless the super is a fairly short distance away.
Changes I'd like to see:
1. The super needs GG combustion like in D1, but only on precision kills. The combustion damage should be able to kill any guardian. Anything killed by the explosion should also explode. Same goes for PvE.
2. Stickiness and range need to be identical to 6 shot goldy.
3. Precision hits decreasing your super cooldown needs to be more noticeable.
4. Precision hits should increase the stability of your weapon similar to rapid hit or Gunslinger's Trance from D1. Make us FEEL our subclass.
5. This golden gun should over penetrate targets. Maybe in general, but I'm thinking only on precision hits.

Hunters don’t need any buffs Git gud Or play a different game

I have over 100k kills with gunslinger in pve so I can say honestly of the three classes (hunter warlock or titan) , solar hunter is the weakest. It doesnt have the balance of the titan sun breaker or strong gimmicks of the dawnblade, sunbracers phoenix, starfire etc. The neutral exotics are bad, cause trip mines are bad. Throwing knife has no existent crit boxes on some enemies like vex. Nighthawk generally is not useful unless I'm undermanned in an activity. Nighthawk typically doesnt make a two phase into a one phase and you can melt most bosses with g launchers. Raid banners make nighthawk even less useful. Hope the neutral game gets a big buff for solar week on top and bottom tree. Fix blade barrages horrible damage on smaller ultras.
-
Solar week already happened when they nerfed Sleeper and WotW.
-
The super cooldown perk requires constant precision hits, its very difficult to keep the perk going to be effective. This is due to the quick ttk and missing crits. Its good in pve and is noticeable. The hitbox of the gg is worse Compared to 6 shooter, but it doesn't drain as fast. Orbs are cool but its more of a pve perk. I do miss some perks from the d1 days. Gunslinger trance and scavenger. Its like tether. They're both decent in pvp, but they're more suited for pve.
-
I know I’m clutching at straws but please increase the magazine on Sunshot - it’s a solar handcannon
-
And there is no decent exotics for golden gun in pvp. (Blade barrage excluded)

Cool story

Edited by DuBChiri2: 7/24/2019 5:33:08 PMUh...bottom tree tether is the worst hands down. At least with sharp shooter you can one shot supers if you headshot them and having the slightly faster regen on precision hits is useful to a degree. I think as a skill tree its main focus is pve, much like well of radiance or bubble. It's not entirely unusable especially since it's a good shut down super, but outlaw is pretty much just hold the firing button when a super is around and its dead. There's not really much they can do to buff sharp shooter because it's design isn't suited for it. Not to mention they more than likely won't be tweaking it much as it got a rework a while ago that made it go from crap to pretty good in pve. A lot of people only ever talk about it with celestial night hawk, but it's still one of the strongest supers in the game without an exotic...actuall I think it IS the strongest damaging super without an exotic.

Got all the gear from crown of sorrows in 2 runs

Your first mistake was running Sharpshooter for pvp. It's a pve subclass designed for orb generation and DPS.

Anyone know when solar week is possibly coming?

Edited by zekuel: 7/24/2019 2:53:01 PMIt’s funny to hear people say this is a pve subclass when this 3 shot gold was what it was in D1 and one of the best supers. It can not compete with the roaming supers now though. Golden gun needs to activate quicker and have an over shield for a couple of seconds to get you through the activation animation. It needs better hit detection on the 3shot. OHK for bottom tree throwing knife crits, higher damage and more aoe for the top tree. Swarm grenades need faster and longer tracking. Trip mine needs better activation, able to stick on targets again, and just longer duration. I would love to see celestial NH be able to hold super indefinitely until fired or killed. If not triple the duration. Buff stacks need to last longer on bottom tree also.

Solar week is going to be an excuse to sell emotes.
-
Sharpshooters far from the worst, and also far from top tier. I think PMP is in a good place for now, with my only suggested change being to increase the perks duration to get the stacks higher. X5 is actually pretty insane, but it’s rare to hit it.

is a good tree
-
it's mainly a PvE tree; that said, incendiary is the closest we have to a regular good old fashion halo grenade so to me its a very natural play. Try using a pulse for practise makes perfect, each one of those bullets procs the perk.

I only use it for pve w/celestial. Never considered it for pvp tbh
